I'd love to find out who's doing that. I'd put a bloody hook through somewhere and use them as bait.

Don't know if I even WANT to read it - anyone who treats animals badly is just as capable of doing the same to kids - I would do time if I ever caught anyone hurting either!!!

Animals are far more trustworthy that most people!!!

Rubbish..........

.......this is just one of those "stories" and nothing more. Now before you all jump down my throat - I own a dog, always have and always will and of course I love the little ba***rd to bits but I just think, despite this being on the RSPCA site, it's fictional.

Have just read it - wish I hadn't - sadly in other countries there is not much that can be done!!! Third world countries are rife with things like this.

Not only 3rd world though - look at Spain - bullfighting is really sick and they still throw goats off church towers in some places - positively medieval.

Yup... have to agree... everyone knows that's not the way to mount the live-bait when fishing for sharks... you gotta use at least three treble hooks...

There are some sick people out there.

The same picture and an article appeared in 'The Sun' yesterday, im not sure whether that confirms it as genuine or not!

I've done a little more........

....research and it would appear that this is in fact TRUE. Terrible yes but what if they used rats, would we be as appaulled ? What about live fish, how would we feel about that ? I know, they could bait the hooks with dead fish - after all the blood would attract the sharks and of course all they have to do is buy the "dead fish" from the shops - that can't be cruel can it ? Come on, I'm all for some forms - nee - all forms of animal protection but unless you are 100% vegi - never take prescriptive drugs, wear leather shoes etc etc etc - we're all hypocrites - yes/no ?

You're just looking for reaction!

This behaviour, purely for fun, is barbaric, unnesasary, and unforgivable!

Do we think the photo is genuine? We have a dog with a bloody great hook placed through it's muzzle and it's showing no signs of distress. The handler isn't holding the dogs jaws shut, as far as I can see, and if anyone has a dog they'll know that if they get so much as a bramble in the snout they'll go ballistic trying to get it out. Any sign of blood?
If you're rigging for shark, surely the hook would go at the rear end which is where the shark will mouth it's intended food to give it the old once over? If a shark grabs a dog in the water rigged like this, won't it just tear it clean off the hook?
So, is it a genuine photo or not? I appreciate human beings can be real cruel bastards and wouldn't put it past some, but this doesn't look real to me... over to you "photoshop" experts...

Bloody Third World savages - yet another reason why I'll never give any of the buggers a penny of charity. These people are not just years behind the civilised world, they're a couple of centuries behind. And that goes for those clowns in Spain, as highlighted by Codders, not to mention that lot in the Far East who eat dogs and chop the heads off monkeys to scoop out their brains God, I'm glad I live in Britain.

I would like it to be, yes for sure. There is certainly something odd about it, but you can never be sure. Having seen for myself, certain practices involving live monkeys in restaurants in Malaysia in the name of a "local delicacy" I would put nothing past these far eastern "hunter gatherers". However, it's also very hard to compare different cultures. The Bullfighting scenario is just one example. Have you ever seen hare coursing, dog and cock fighting over here? Massively popular, illegal underground blood sports. Maybe someone in the Far East is looking at a British hare coursing web site and reaching for a petition as we speak.....

Jono, if the stories true, and I've reason to think it aint, that dog has been in the water for an unknown time, and we don't know how long the hooks been in there..

why would this be fake, on the RSPCA site?

Jono - Good.........

.......point, I thought it but didn't think to comment. P D - shut the duck up - you have no room what so ever to speak, it's your kind who we really should stand together against. Do I need to troll up countless threads in which you advocate hunting (ducks, pheasants) etc. SHUT IT
