tip for sky

I've had no end of problems with sky (sky+ installation) and the tactic that has worked twice now is when you call and get through to india or livingston (eventually, normally after an hour's wait) straight away ask for the cancellation department and tell them you want to cancel due to poor service and move to ntl. This has got me free Sky+ install and 6 months half price...

hey fab tip with sky

our box is playing up and needs replacing and we have the extra cover for any problems but i am feched if i am going to wait for 1-2 hours on the phone as every time we call there is a huge wait time, chicken and egg situation i know.

just calling them now 39 mins to go, such good customer service

perhaps a nice opportunity to sell them an advanced contact management center application..... or perhaps they just need to employ more staff

Sometimes it pays not to press any buttons when you phone these call centers. Most have a facility for people who don't have touch tone phones; you can often speak to a real person after a minute or so - just let the phone ring and see if it works.

Slimtim....it's not a crime to tell the truth and the truth is a valid defence against any accusation of slander or libel!

So nice to see Dixon's getting the negative publicity they deserve...they are up there in the league of Cr*p Companies with Sky, BT, The Post Office etc.......!! We've had trouble with them...if you don't buy the extended warranty on your goods they claim your only rights are your guarantee (for a year). The Sale of Goods Act gives you rights for much longer than a guarantee and these rights are FREE!! Hence a guarantee will always state "this does not affect your STATUTORY rights"!! But because Dixons make more money on extended warranties than on the goods themselves they always want you to buy them!!!!

Always a good idea if you have a complaint to write to the CHIEF EXECUTIVE of the company BY NAME at the heads office address, send it registered. Ignore customer complaints departments or customer "help" lines....they are invariably staffed by the mentally challenged !! Even better send your letter in a pink or pastel envelope with a dab of perfume..that way it won't be opened by the boss's secretary as it will be assumed to be a love letter from his mistress! We find it never fails..!

well got thru to sky and they are sending an engineer on sunday, so we shall see, when they heard i had extra cover/warranty then everything clicked into place and they said they would dispatch a tech in preference to any other ribnetters!!

cool, time to nip outside and kick the dish so he replaces that as well haha, or at least do some chinups off of it

haha

Well, thanks for the replies guys (an PM Pete)!

I was going to write a formal letter of complaint, just haven't got round to it yet. Any idea how I find out who the Chief executive is?!

Mark, I like your tip about stating its the truth...nice!

So, most people say go for it. Should I tone it down slightly, as I guess its a little abusive at the moment ? I find it kinda funny though...would love to see that message on their website!

I hope I have managed to persuade everyone who reads this not to buy stuff in Dixons now!
