The second is a very nice edited RIB video
I would give the title
A LITTLE AVON GOING ROUND AND ROUND
1st video nicely done after a slow start

Thanks for all the comments

It’s all hosted on a couple of servers at home over my Pipex ADSL connection. The streaming wasn't particularly to stop downloading; I just like having more control over my hosting. They can be downloaded at http://www.loughlin.tv/video Think I might look at my putting the videos on my Pipex webspace though.

Not sure why people are getting "There was no timely response from the server" messages. I haven’t got streaming over HTTP working yet, which if you have a firewall blocking the other streaming protocols might be the reason.

Anybody know any ADSL providers offering faster upstream speeds?

Manos, it’s a Tornado!

I had to update my windows media player to get it to work, maybe older versions wont operate on some of the settings or type of file.

mmm - should be compatible with all versions of Media Player. I have just got HTTP streaming working which may solve it.

You need SDSL if you want a faster upstream Daniel..... but there's a good chance it probably isn't in your area

Maybe worth compressing to say 190kbps for the vids.... my media player reckons the rib video is coming through at 328kbps, which with 256k upstream on dsl will never be reached... it's just now dropped to just under 256k about half way through after some jitters. Is there a way to force it down to start off with? - I haven't played around with the windows media server properly yet on our servers at work so am clueless I'm afraid (will have a fiddle and break something tomorrow though).

Great footage though

Excellent

Alex, the videos are compressed at multiple bit rates (28K, 43k, 58K, 109K, 121K, 241K and 1128K [That’s for me ] ). Media Player should assess network conditions and pick the appropriate bit rate, athough it would appear media player isn't quite that clever . I might try encoding without the 1128K rate so it can’t go higher than 241K.

With the rush or people trying to view them this afternoon I have had high numbers of concurrent connections which probably explains the slow performance sometimes experienced.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
