I had an SD1 when I was 18-5 speed manual, T reg ex CID one. Jesus that thing was fast.

I couldn't afford to run it or insure it for long either-but not to the extent it costs today. I...erm...was getting 8mpg out of it. I did love that V8 though 
I had loads of stuff back then that was quite mental-all extremely fast and most towards the end of its life. A Lancia HPE2000 (though that was so rotten it lasted a month before almost literally splitting in half) , a very very quick 2.1 mk2 Capri,a Manta Coupé,Audi 100...

Heres my 1st toy when I was rather young - "note T-cut in hand"
3.0 litre essex v6 lump, Huge webber carb, K+N - twin stainless exhausts either side

My first car was an old Alfa Romeo 33. When it worked it was great, loved the sound of the boxer engine. Sadly it hardly ever worked and cost £1700 to insure. Replaced it with a BMW 520i, and went around everything that wasn't straight sideways. It was like driving a square tank with a hole in the fuel tank (not unlike a 5.4 searider with 115 V4 2 stroke  ). So got a Vuaxhall Cav SRi 130 and spent twice as much as I paid for it up rating everything. Had it on the road for a month and some 92 year old man didn't see me sat at the lights and tried to drive through me at high speed. Was not amused but got enough compo to buy myself a big shinney Preimire Signia Drumkit so I got over it.
