Hence the my argument is the irish player was binned for a perfect tackle IMO there was nothing wrong with it.

Brad Davies was a twat. North appears to go better for Wales than the Scarlets. Wales deserved the win.

Do you think Ireland would have won, had he not been penalised/carded?

Fook me, my argument was.. the refs decision making re tackles I didn't say it would have changed the result but on the other hand if BD had a straight red, psychologically it could have changed the game.

The ref didn't make the decision on Davies, as he didn't see the incident. He was guided by his touch judge, Dave Pearson, who is an utter nobend IMO. Pearson described the incident and advised Barnes to Yellow card Davies.

Yes that is true, but was it Pearson or Barnes who sin binned the Irish player for a perfectly good tackle

Pearson did not appear to be involved with the other Yellow card incident.

So should the ref have binned him for that tackle, do you think it was fair or un fair... be honest now

I don't think it deserved a Yellow card.

Barnes asked Pearson for his recommendation and Pearson said yellow how the hell I do ot know as it happened right in front of him. Rules of the game: he intentionally lifted him of his feet and drove him head first into the ground with intent!
All the TV pundits agree with that opinion as does Gatland.

No he didnt.

Davies lifted him, Ryan turned in the lift and Davies dropped him from waist height. He didn't drive him head first into the ground, but Ryan did land on his shoulder, head-downwards, which I agree, was dangerous.

What's daft is the entire incident was off the ball & unnecessary. and ironically, Ryan had come into the ruck from an offside position.

In fairness to Barnes, he was following the play, as the ball had moved across field to the next tackle when the incident occurred. Twas right under Pearson's nose though and he described to Barnes exactly what happened.

Dai really makes no difference to me I am still hurting from our dismal show!! But I still think Ryan was vertical!
Anyway its over to the next round and I only see France stopping you from glory

Law 10.4(j) reads: Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.

A directive was issued to all Unions and Match Officials in 2009 emphasizing the IRB’s zero-tolerance stance towards dangerous tackles and reiterating the following instructions for referees:

- The player is lifted and then forced or ‘speared’ into the ground (red card offence)

- The lifted player is dropped to the ground from a height with no regard to the player’s safety (red card offence)
