Ventnor for lunch Sunday 10 April

We're planning on going clockwise around the island from Poole to Ventnor on Sunday with a view to having lunch in the sunshine on the terrace at The Spyglass Inn from around 1.00 pm and then heading back home via The Needles. Anyone want to join us for the cruise (whole or part) or for lunch? Would be good to get a group together.

David

Excellent. We're planning on leaving the marina shortly after 11.00 am so, after allowing for the speed limit which now back in for Poole Harbour, we should be off Cowes shortly after midday and will call on Ch16. We don't want to be too early since HT Ventnor isn't until 4.00 pm. Look forward to seeing you again and you can meet the harem!

If you want a longer run, a number of us are going to Weymouth - Leaving Southampton Dry Stack about 10.30 for Yarmouth, then on to Weymouth after lunch. Sleep on board (now you have a nice cabin) and then back on Sunday - may be back even in time for lunch at Ventnor!
Call me on the mobile (07840 975807) if you want more info or to come along.

Looking forward to it. Harem unfortunately has had to cancel but me, Mrs A*, work colleague and her husband will be off Cowes probably around 12.15 given need for petrol in Yarmouth and busy marina launching queues (if today was anything to go by)!

Grimalkin now has a clean bottom (thanks Scurvy Crew for his help) and I'm now off to ensure I have the same.

* Trevor G, please note if you have your purchase and can access this from Weymouth!

It was a really good day out on the water!

Safely home and boat out of the water as a bonus (they were still there at the marina!).

Trevor proved that (with some VHF use and a small telling off from Solent Coastguard - who were a little short), you can still hitch lifts on the water and get home. That's Weymouth to Hamble on three boats via Ventnor.

Good to see everyone and must keep doing things like that!

I don't know whether you could hear our exchange but it was only: call up by Trevor G, acknowledgement by me, Trevor G advising that I had just passed him. My next call was going to be to suggest a working channel but Solent interrupted with their wrist-slap which took as long as the exchange they were criticising!
They were, of course, technically correct but I still thought it a bit harsh. Hopefully, however, if ten students took the point on board some good came of it.

Yes we did hear the exchange, and actually one of the student did comment on the harshness of the CG, I used it as a teaching point and explaned that they clamp down on that type of thing because on a really busy day it can be a nuisance. However I do agree it was harsh, a polite reminder would have sufficed !!

This thread got me thinking ...

I wonder if the power of Rib.Net could get someone around the UK by hitching a lift from all those on here???

The logistics would be very interesting and not cost any one person a huge amount of money or time, other than the person doing the whole trip

Steve

That sounds like the basis of a great charity event perhaps for the rnli ? Might also be a record breaker type of event.
