USS Enterprise - Solent This Weekend

The USS Enterprise is back in the solent, it arrived today and is here for 4 days. She is massive and well worth a look if you are in the Solent. She is anchored in Stokes Bay

Here are some pics of the last ship of this type to visit ...

Very true - technically as rib owners you could categorise us as "sailors", who historically have not been notorious for their sobriety or chasteness, making us well qualified to discuss a wide range of topics .

Ricky

ps this of course in no way suggests that rib owners would have anything to do with the nocturnal activities of sailors who have just got off a long cruise !

went past it this morning at 0925 got told off by the police launch as we were too close suppose seeing two ribs coming at you at speed could be a bit dodgy to the Americans suprised they did not blow us out of the water.when we went past again at 1100 we gave it a wide berth but oh boy is it big

had to deliver a rib and bring one back force 6 going ito Portsmouth then nice wind against tide up to Calshot went to Saxon wharf to collect some liferafts and then back to the Isle de blanc yes blowing old boots interesting sea state as nice 2 metre Solent swells the forcasts was giving 6 as a top end but felt more like 7/8 as i think the centre of the low was further south than predicted boat speed was down to a mere 7 knots at times as on a very stern heavy rib so bows riding high
even though had loads of kit in the bows

yes when we got back had a chat with Dan from Cowes ILC and they reckon they had a 7 sometimes 8 when they were out training certainly keeps you on your toes as went further down to Lepe before cutting across to the Island shore ,wave sets were coming in 5 and 7 and quite close together but when we turned for the Island with the boat being arse heavy we had a good attitude to the waves and made a comfortable return leg with the following sea
