Ullapool slip is long and thin, especially for bigger boats (see below).

I've read you can launch from the shore with a 4x4? I've never launched from there myself. I pass through Ullapool on route to Lewis 2-3 times a year. Some serious depths around Ullapool, and perfect base for exploring the numerous islands, and fishing of course. Your best bet to launch would be Ardmair, north of Ullapool. Details here: Ullapool - Ardmair Point Holiday Centre - Luxury Self Catering holiday accommodation and holiday park

Also - previous thread on the area. http://www.rib.net/forum/f18/summer-...rds-30797.html

Fuel up before you get there... especially with your Yammie 300 horses! Petrol price in Ullapool is currently £1.44 a litre, and diesel £1.50

You mean the 'skin so soft' ? I thought they stopped making it ? IIRC it had to be the forrest fresh stuff .. it was the only one that worked

Think this year might be okay for midges. It's been particularly dry on the west coast (no rain for at least 6 weeks). In addition - you could try a new product called Smidge (doesn't contain DEET). The Scottish Midge Forecast

Agreed .. plus we keep seeming to get Northerlies coming in which keeps them away, but keeps the temp down also.

This will blow them all down to Jambo's patch.. he'll be ok in his iron lung complete with Jura drip pipe, its the other pale faces I fear for .........

I suspected as much, but my earlier post on the subject was poo poo'd... indeed ... I think it would be prudent for them to carry a puncture repair kit, some MEK, patches, and glue, just to be on the safe side .. plus they'll soon find out why Jambo likes his drachm ... so an arbitrary doseage of C2H6O to encourage mild euphoria after a day of punishment is also a suggested pre requisite.
