anyone booked into the quay hotel ..? if the weather is that bad theres always the swimming pool,steam room,sauna,good food and if you got plenty money the bar..!!

Depends how you look at it.

1. Bought 2 SUMs off John K for when it rains

2. Bought another kill cord for when I lose one

3. Bought another fuel tank for when I run out

4. Bought a fuel tank switch so I have a reserve tank

5. Bought a handheld VHF, (which I needed anyway) to back up the one in the console, for when I get flooded

6. Bought a coastal flare pack for when I get stranded, (needed that as well tho)

7. Checked my massive flask was still good for holding coffee

and on and on, not stressed at all, just preparing

Well, I spent all day checking over my brakes, bearings and trailor fixings and making sure everything is snug for the tow down, its a long way for us. Is the a prize for the furthest away?

I will be passing Bothwell 10:30 approx Friday heading south, if any others are heading down (kim?) let me know.
I hope the weather has been arranged...........

Google maps informs me I will be doing 297 miles, hoping to leave at about 1300 on the Friday and hoping the M6 behave's itself.

Some of my crew(family) are nowing having cold feet, so may have room on board, for a.n.other

Whilst I am now happy about the fuel arrangements for the IOM trip, for my planning, what is the approx distance around the island on the Sunday and what sort of time do "we" expect to be back at Conway??

I could do with a plan re this as well. I reckon I can cover about 60 miles ish, (65 litres of fuel connected to my outboard), before needing to re fill my tanks from jerry cans, so stopping half way round the island to allow a re fuel would be good

Plus about 12 N Miles for the crossing too and from Puffin-Conwy.

Last time I went round it was nearly 80 nm - that was Holyhead to Holyhead - you will need to add probably 20 nm to that for the extra Conwy to Puffin bit.

I would look at 100 nm total.

BTW - What time is the start for Sunday so that I can guess an ETA for Holyhead - might come out for a look!

Don't forget that petrol is NOT available at Holyhead Marina (or anywhere else on the water apart from Conwy Marina).

You will have to Jerry can it from Tesco (2 miles from Marina!

For round Anglesey fuel wise. Just after beaumaris there is a spit of land that has ABC marine boatyard on it. The shore is shail and safe to approach and the garage only 20metres or so from the beach, one place to consider. The other side of the spit iis a small slip, though only about half tidal.

Also, Porth Daniel by the menai bridge does diesel. There is a garage about 1000m away for petrol which is up a hill too, but there if anyone really needed it.

Also, more practical, caernarfon marina. There is a new supermarket with a garage about 200m away, check out this for a map, you can see the garage by the round about.

I'm not aware of any other places round the island other than holyhead which is a big walk, especially the north and north east coast from holyhead round to beaumaris. If we are going clockwise, be sure to have enough or fill up in ABC or caernarfon (Though ABC isnt too far from set off in conwy!!)

Five day forcast for Saturday gives wind speeds of up to 27mph. From those who know these waters, what sea state and conditions might we expect?? Its nothing like the Solent so would like some feedback
