Taunton to Penzance roughly 148 miles if I can remember correctly.
You should miss the Holiday traffic but leave yourself plenty of time just incase.
The A30 would be the best route unless you have to go via Plymouth.

How many of you are actually taking ribs of 5m and below?
After reading the latest threads it seems everyone is going up a size or two!
I don't think mine will stretch anymore.

If it comes off im hopefully launching in Plymouth on the Thursday and cruising down to Falmouth . Spend a night in a B&B before meeting up with the RIBs coming from Penazance on Friday morning.

Short tow to Plymouth and then breaks the trip to Scilly's into two. On the Sunday plan to head back to Plymouth with a lunch stop in Fowey if the weather is good.

Talking of fuel my Zodiac has a 35l console tank and I am taking two red 25l tanks. That should give me a cruising range of
120nm. The Scillies are 38 miles from Penzance.

Local weather looking favourable. Maybe a little mist or drizzle, keep an eye on the N,NNW wind, it could freshen.

Not if you cannot plane!! I went up to Fowey from Falmouth a distance of 21nm it used 15l going there and due to a lumpy chop it used it used the rest of the 35l tank on the way back at displacement speed 8kts

Is there some Cornish secret that enables you to predict the weather for the last weekend in July today when the Met Office can't even do five days in advance?

No, there's some Cornish idiot who somehow got it in his head that you were going this weekend.

End of July eh? I might just be able to slip along for the ride.

KERN'S, where 'ee too???

Who's changed now their mind?
