Plymouth would possibly be the better option if you're looking at such an alternative.
M5/A38 straight in to Queen Ann Battery. Torquay is a faff to get to and the marina/slip is a bit pants.

Not quite, motorway finishes just after Exeter. Although the dual carriageway is not too bad the single carriageway into Torquay can be horrendous with traffic delays.

Plymouth would be easier. A38 then short dual carriageway to QAB. Launch slip is easy and worth paying the marina to launch it for you. Usually plenty of parking for your car and trailer.

Yeah took mine to caernafon this morning but fear it's not totally legal !, filled front tank 300 ltrs which made it more comfortable , fancy blast by sea from Poole more fun than motorway ESP if weather is ok

Thanks for advice re Plymouth worth a look RIB is 10.5 mtrs but 2.9 wide , anyone else going to Plymouth if so poss meet there ? Failing that might take the coastal ride

Plym to Scillies is a stunning stretch of coastline, approx 120Nm. A long haul in moderate+ seas. Try to avoid running tight to Dodman and Lizard during flood tides.
