Still intend to go and have a look on the Sunday. If nothing exciting happening will explore the Clyde or might go round Bute if conditions are good.

The ships are coming into Oban wed and thursday, only found out about this yesterday as it hasn't been well publicised locally.
So I ain't going to the Clyde when I can see them all from the house!

i've been and had a looksy at what is there today-not much tbh and far less ships than last time so far (about a dozen total thus far). hopefully more will come in over today/tomorrow but i heard only 6 large ships are coming now (class A) instead of the planned 13 and a lot less of the smaller classes :-(.

forecast is terrible so not sure if people still planning to go?

i was planning on leaving my boat in the drink but i took it out as i doubt much sailing will be happening...GRRRRRRR. i'm off for 2 weeks specifically for this aswell....oh well-fingers crossed.

cheers

little update folks, just been out again and there is probably about 25-30 boats now and 4/5 of the big ones.

the other bad news is i was told the harbour is closed and was told to leave so anyone planning to go by sea maybe disappointed as the harbour they told me was closed has 95% of the boats in there. i don't know if they are planning to close the other harbour off or not.

cheers

Hi

Missed the lead up to this as we have been on holiday and are just back - anyone still going down tomorrow (Sunday); or anyone got any update from being there today? Weather doesn't look brilliant -but I've seen worse!

We are dry berthed in Largs Yacht Haven so will be leaving from there and happy to meet up if anyone else is out - just let me know where and when!

Sorry won't see you Bruce but can understand the choice of the journey or looking out your window - will catch up with you another time! ....the whole thing, including on the web, has been very poorly publicised, the only reason I was aware was via the signs on the walls of the toilets in Largs YH - get the feeling they don't want a lot of ribs around - which is more of an invitation!

Viv

After reading comments changed plans, still going from Largs on sunday morning but thinking of going round Bute instead. Family visiting so will not miss the opportunity to go somewhere.
Will look out for anyone around.

tbh guys it is not worth going to unless you really want to see some of the boats. i can confirm the harbour is closed so you won't get into see them which leaves only 1 harbour left which isn't closed but only 5 boats are in there-they are the big ones though.

i maybe up for a meet tomorrow and round bute, what time are you setting off?

cheers

Just got back. Sorry didn't see your reply until now. Put boat in at Largs about 10.30am and back ot at 4.30pm. Went to see Tall Ships but could not get near so went round Kyles of Bute and across to Tarbert Loch Fyne.
100 miles in total on less than 50 litres of fuel. Excellent day pics to follow (hopefully)
Once again thanks for alll your comments.

Oban bay won't be closed, I'd like to see them try!
