The weather seems to be OK for Sunday.
Lunch in Yarmouth perhaps.

See you then.

I have booked to do my VHF SRC the second week of Feb so am not legal to use the radio yet but I'll monitor CH08 anyway. I do know what your boat looks like and ours looks like a smaller version of yours but with an OB

Grey Pearl - Grey Mist - one just can't miss them

as for the use of the VHF this could always count as an emergency then you are OK to use it

We had a great, and stretching day, but thanks to Andre and Trevor G we survived. We've never seen the tide flow out so fast (is that to do with the Blue Moon?), standing waves of around a metre, wicked but very wet with the North Easterly wind. After a great lunch we were somewhat surprised at the size of the waves halfway across the Solent (probably not very big if you've seen them before! we haven't! so we learnt something:-)) Thanks guys for coming back and looking after us.
Mrs FZ
PS we recovered perfectly, and we even washed the boat:-)

I am very pleased that you had a good time and Mrs FZ did well driving all the way to Yarmouth. This is the only way to gain experience.
Hopefully you will be coming down more often.
Here are a few photos and will post my GoPro clip once I get round to do the editing.
Dave C unfortunately had to back out due to a technical issue

Nice pics and video Andre. It looks a lot flatter on film than it actually was. When we left Yarmouth and you overtook us you went airborne two or three times - the only part of your boat in the water was the skeg. Shame our cam didn't catch it. It looked very impressive Our footage is pretty rubbish, as it seems very over exposed or it could be fogged up lens. We might be able to get a couple of minutes out of it though. Will post it up when edited.

Keep us informed of when you go out again as we are certainly up for joining you again. Great day out. We don't understand how people can sit on the couch watching fussball every weekend when they could be out actually 'doing' something

FZ. I agree the GoPro does not give the real picture. I am going to get another pad and stick on my samson post on the bow . The samson post has a flat plate on the top so no problem. Perhaps this will give a better story. I am very pleased that you both were not put off ribbing in the Solent. See you the next time

I'm convinced the wide angle lens on a Gopro - even on "narrow" distorts and flattens depth, making any sea seem "flatter" than it really is. You only have to see the spray thrown onton A frame mounted cameras on this and the Nacho Run footage to appreciate the real seas.

Well done Foxzulu, for battling some impressive seas All good experience.

Thanks for letting me tag along and have a drive Andre. It's always good to have a go on different boats, especially in the less than flat conditions like running back out of Yarmouth.
