Don't bother. We sail to France/CIs virtually every year and have never been asked for one. Anyway, we should kick against all this sort of stupid regulation.

Would be keen to go during kids Summer Holidays

I think you'll find Steve that some want to go for the weekend and some for a week. If you could combine the two sets of RIBbers in either an outward leg or return leg then you'd manage to get at least one big cruise.

I only favor long wekends as my Missus isn't as water bourne as I am and have to be mindful of the family holiday breaks

D DAY beaches

I really want to do a trip from Chichester to Cherbourg St Vaas and the D Day beaches ( Arromanches) and then up the canal passing under Pegasus bridge into Caen city centre . Stay 1 night and then return . 6th June the obvious date but weather work etc will dictate that a little. Anyone up for it .

Wish I was...

If you're going that way anyway then it's well worth getting a picnic and spending a day exploring the Napoleonic fort on Iles Saint-Marcouf. You'll need a tender to do it as the shore is quite rocky but access is easy.

I know this complicate matters but have you thought of taking your ribs to France on a ferry behind a car and then driving them down to southern Brittany or Vendée ? There are plenty of beautiful islands that are really worth visiting in the area. It's ideal ground for RIB cruises.

I love Brittany , its a bit like Cornwall but unspoiled . The cost of the ferry from this end of the country is prohibitive these days and with a trailer behind it would be crazy .

Totally, but even having the boat doesn't guarantee a gap in the cliff with a bit of sand to yourself nowadays.

Polzeath is a beautiful beach. We always went there when I was a nipper, Hooray Henry grand central now, rammed in high season.

We used to walk down the low cliff on tristram field carpark and jump in the water off the rocks instead of paddling out at high tide, now its all fenced off with "danger cliff" notices on it, probably because of the drunk public school boy who fell off it while walking back to his parents holiday home.

Probably too ambititous for this year, but I'd love to cruise the Gulf of Morbien on the Southern side of Brittany, I have friends that live in Vannes one who's a sailer and one that's got a small 5m fishing boat.
