St Kilda - The Sketch

This video caught my eye for so many reasons:

I'm not sure if anyone on here knows this charter company but I'd be interested if a few of us could book the rib for a day trip and an island tour?

http://www.gotostkilda.co.uk

Looks like a great way to visit the Island without towing a rib up from the south

It's run by Derek Gordon using his Redbay "Integrity". He's a nice bloke and it's a great boat.

There was a program on BBC4 on Monday "The last seabird summer" filmed on the Shiants & St Kilda. Worth finding on Iplayer. Part 2 is next week.

Day trips from SKYE to ST KILDA by fast boat - a once in a lifetime experience

Interesting and I would put my name down for this but it would have to be linked to a weekend and in the summer when the days a longer. if there were enough from down here one could even hire a mini bus and all to chip in. perhaps even pick ups on route.

Big trip from South Coast of UK.

Also consider using Flybe to Stornoway and using these guys:

Still a Redbay Cruise, but with five meters more legroom!

If you're interested in photography you could alos go on Marcus' 5 day workshop (Marcus produced that film along with Adam Bulley) - a brilliant way to see St Kilda and spend lots of time there.

Excellent 'twas too!
Bit of an eye opener on how the MUCH over fished not so Humble Sand Eel has impacted on the Bird population!
The foreign Boats catch em for everything from Pig Food to Fertiiser and even FUEL for power stations !!!
.....How nice (and far sighted) of his Dad to buy the Shant Islands for him in the 1950's! Certainly in good Hands!
Some Nice footage of old St Kilda as well!

even a better option and cheaper as well due to shorter sea voyage. will have to look at the cost of flights.

a Redbay is fine, a good rib and the second best for me

Yep sounds really good if we fly up, it'd not too bad by road but you can't get any 3G past Manchester

The times I have been asked advice on Ribbing in Scotland this year is unreal, most people ask about Loch Lomond but I always say go to the Wide Mouth Frog in Dunstaffnage. Hope I'm giving the right advice as this place is pretty awesome.

Is that the Corry, Whisper? The more I look at that photo, the less I think it's a genuine pic. Not that I have an issue with that if it's obvious to readers - just curious...
