I'll be out and about tomorrow in the solent.

Have to take my new (to me) Shakespeare out for a run, so leaving drivers at about 11:30ish I guess and off to the Folly for lunch.

Might see you out.

Neil,

Just seen the thread. Nice looking boat.
I should imagine by 1200 hrs we will be a few miles away. But give us a shout on Channel 77. I will be in the company of AndyB007 on Darwin. Hopefully we can meet up.
He's bringing some high tech camera gear to make another movie.

Regards Nick.

I know, hoping she serves me as well as the 5.4 has the last year, also hoping not too thirsty!

It will be the first run out since getting my hands on her for the trial run, so name to think of, so if you try calling me tomorrow will be using Neil Harvey I think for ease. Will listen out on 77, although only have a handheld at the moment!

Regards

Neil

Well we did get out today. Why on earth is it so cold at sea when its boiling on shore. Had a quick blast down to Pompey then out to Nab Tower. Still a little choppy and certainly more wind than was forecast. Although Whitecliff Bay was sheltered and just like the tropics. After having lunch at the Lightship decided to go round Hayling Island. Saw the Chichester Harbour patrol and got waved at this time instead of getting pulled over like I usually do. Then it was a straight run back up to Warsash. Still bl**dy cold though.
No major mishaps which was good. Tried to link up with Neil Harvey on his new boat but we always seemed to be at opposite ends of the Solent when we spoke to each other on the phone.
On a bad note did see two RIBs getting towed by Seastart.
And on a good note got blasted to hell by the two guns at Portsmouth harbour entrance as we left. Very smart the crews looked, and very loud were the bangs. And also saw an old MTB in immaculate condition which sounded absolutely brilliant. I think I would quite happily sell a kidney for a blast on that beast at full speed.
Apologies for no pics but it was just one of those days where you enjoy being on the water and let the world go by.

Nick, It was a good day. Just sorry I was feeling a bit under the weather to enjoy it to the full. Interstingly my flu-like symptoms seemed to diminish when on the water - why is that? Anyway, glad I made the effort but suffering for it now!

Andy

ps - those guns were f<very>g loud!

Hi Nick,

We blasted off to Portsmouth after lunch had a good run up, then back to Southampton water.

Ran into Warsash to use the loos, and guess you were stil out, coss your car and trailer were still in the carpark.

But had to leave quickly as had to get back to Drivers by 5 so as not to get locked out (have no key yet).

Next time maybe.

Took a run today from Drivers, down and over to Yarmouth and back, great day, calmer than yesterday but no warmer and more overcast.

Really have to come up with a name for the new boat!!!

Neil

Neil,

If your based in Drivers now then we should bump into each other at some stage. How often do you look on going out ?
Yesterday was a lot lumpier than I expected. Sounds like today was better. Hopefully it can only get better.

regards Nick.

Nick,

I look on going out as often as possible, so far as the bank balance allows and without getting the sack!

In reality, I guess I'll try and make entire weekends of it, cutting down on the launch fees and return fuel etc. Camped down in New Forest Saturday night, and I came home today less tired than usual after two days on the water. So probably every two to three weekends. Have a long bank holiday weekend in May sometime also (Swiss holidays). So that might be good for a few runs.

How lumpy did you find it yesterday compared to the Medina Muster in March? It's difficult to guage having been on different boats!

See you around.

Neil

Neil,

About the same as the March run. Which was annoying as we all expected it to be flat calm. It was just the same outside the Solent. You could get a fair lick of speed up but had to watch for the freak waves/troughs.

Let me know when your out next. A weeks notice will usually do so i can get some crew rounded up.

Regards Nick.
