glad everyone got home safely and that was a long long day for you steve, you guys must have been really tired.
glad everyone enjoyed the trip round the island
was my second trip round so was good to do it in such great company and a nice group as adds to the fun.
As being the first large cruse i had set up i was not sure just how much to organise, as wanted to get folks round the iow and then leave folks to make their own plans for the rest of the day and keep an element of flexibility as some would prefer to sit on a beach and others in a pub, some would get off early and others would stay late.
so limited the organising of this trip to:
Suggesting slipways,
Location for meet
times to start,
direction and took it from there
for future trips, especially if the numbers are so large will give a time and destination for eats and other key milestones along the way, so that folks can make a choice as to how they want to spend the day. but also if folks are late they can join in also. was consious that when we got to yarmouth a lot of people split up to get a beer and refreshments and it was difficult to relay the beach we had choosen.
One idea suggested was ......it would also be good that for other trips if folks post a pic of their boat and them (if not too shy) so that it helps everyone recognise who everyone is!!!!
I will post a few more trips during the summer and anyone is welcome to join in as its nice to get such a diverse crowd from across the country enjoying the solent and other areas. Many Many people have said that we need more trips arranging so folks can join in and meet other ribbers.
so for this year will be arranging the following outings
trip to alum bay/needles end of July
trip to cornwall for a week in the falmouth area in august
trip to scilleys in august leaving from penzance if we get a weather window
trip to lyme regis for a weekend in august
trip to pembroke/south wales in august
trip down the thames in sept for a london cruse
another trip round the iow before we lose the good weather
places i am interested in visiting but not sure if i can squeeze them in this year are....
Ramsgate/herne bay areas
poole/christchurch area
plymouth area
ipswich area
watchet north somerset area
want to make the most of the good weather
