Come to think of it, riding a bit bow up probably does the fuel consumption no good either. Maybe I should stick to the rooster tails!!!

Neil,

I would have thought bow up would have been good because that would be less boat in the water therefore less drag. I find with mine its a balancing act to get it just right. Too much bow up and it feels a little flighty at the front. So I normally go that position and then trim back down a little till things feel more stable.

Maybe the engine needs to go down a bit on the transom. No doubt someone on here will know the correct position for that boat and engine combination.

My last engine on the Searider had a massive rooster tale but I think that was caused by the fact it was a high thrust engine with a massive prop on it.

Nick,

To be honest, I'm not sure of the physics.
I would have thought that bow up also means stern down, which means digging in, which I would have thought would be inefficient.

It's like having to go through Poole harbour at 10kn, was drinking more than double the amount at 6kn.

KR

Neil,

Pose it as a seperate thread. Maybe one of the boat builders will be able to help.

Am a much happier bunny about the fuel consumption having filled up yesterday and only put in 92l having travelled 94nm. So just less than 1l per nm.

20% less than I thought I'd got, so the fuel sensor needs calibrating, but will post another message about that.
