From Southampton in the morning and to find a decent pub for lunch.
I am not sure yet about access as not been there before by Rib but hopefully it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

You'd better make it an early lunch then! You'll be on a rapidly falling tide and there won't be much water in the entrance after 1.00 pm. Additionally, I believe that they've now pulled the marker buoys from the entrance channel for the winter (although Blackroady will doubtless be along to confirm) and you'll be on your own trying to find it. I understand that the local fishermen lay four or so small yellow buoys to mark the channel for themselves but they are hard to find and you need to keep very close to then since the channel is narrow.

I'm minded to try the pub at Ashlett Creek for which access should be alright up till about 2.00 pm. Anyone else interested?

Yes I can see that now....well unless there is anywhere else to tie up there, I guess the plans will now have to change....

With the tides tight at Keyhaven as well, your only all-tide alternatives on the mainland are Poole or Lymington - both with good eating/drinking places - although they are both about 30 mins by car from Christchurch.

I'm along ! I reckon you will be fine all day up to to 2.30 - 3pm in & out of Christchurch. Main channel marks are still in place so you will be fine ( if a little un-nerved by the shallow depth !) . They get pulled in November I think ? So possible last chance to 'try it out'.

Should be easy & perfect in & out as it will be calm . Pubs - Either the one at Mudeford quay who's name I cant remember. Tie up to the quay for nothing , or in the harbour - The Boat House - you can drop people at the jetty & then put boat in a foot of water on the beach ( or anchor & get the ferry to pick you up) . Or 10 mins up river the Captains Club - free mooring & very good food - just phone first to let them know you are coming and want to tie up. . Or a bit further Tuckton tea gardens for fry up type stuff- but harder to stop near.

No-where in the harbour ever charges you to stop so makes it easy on that front.

If you come this way & want a guide PM me & I'll meet you out there late morning in one boat or another.

Sunday will be last day of my big boat( lifted a week today for winter) , then I'm down to my 4m of fun !

I too will be out after what seems like weeks of every weekend doing something pre-booked. The high pressure system looks good for a very flat sea, it was this evening.

With that in mind I was thinking a little more further afield and half planning a trip along the coast for lunch in Lulworth Cove. There are a couple of pubs/resturants and the coastline is stunning. A 25kt+ cruise could do Christchurch - Lulworth in about 1hr20min.

Sorry David, I did not log on this morning to see your reply.

We launched at Christchurch as planned at 11, briefly met Blackroady (pete) just outside the Run. He was just returning from an early trip over to Poole.

We then made straight for the Needles and around the coast to Ventnor. Had another great meal at the Spyglass and as we left, met David walking along the Prom.

As the weather and sea state were so very good, we then continued around the Island, my crew's first circumnavigation in one go. Got back to Christchurch just before 3.

68miles and 50 ltrs of fuel, average speed (excluding the stop) 28kts.

One very enjoyable day. Will try and add a couple of vid's of the South of the Island later

Steve, good to see you again - albeit somewhat briefly. Well done on the circumnavigation.

After our meal (also great!) in the Spyglass, we headed back to Poole and got in just after 3.00. I don't know about fuel but kept above 40 kts all the way (and only some of it was in the air!). Look forward to seeing the videos.
