slimtim, I expect there will be lots of cameras, Ricky and myself will have ours for sure. Maybe with so many boats we can stage something amazing!! Like the classic shot of all those Camel boats etc. Shame I can't find a local helicopter to play with us.

Thanks for all advice and suggestions.

Bruce....... CJL (Chris) has kindly offered to co-ordinate the Lymington side of things and we'll post his mobile no. as soon as he confirms permission to do so.

Julian Lyas is a very famous person indeed among Ribsters and he and his dad Roger are very experienced and can-do peeps. They have a great many wonderful tales to tell and you will enjoy meeting them

Will certainly re-edit the list on the next round to begin to indicate boat names and known log-ons. But Bruce please pm your contact person ('CJL')to double-check on launch times etc. The Lymington/Yarmouth group includes some speedy craft/skips ! who may wish to dash up to Calshot to meet us or even shoot out to the Needles for a warm up!

Sincerely appreciate all the helpful pms too and apologise for the typo...
Pompey group muster at the Lightship (big green yoke on entrance to Haslar). (Classic 'missus-take' )

Not long to go! And wasn't the pompey snowshower spectacular today ?

Cheers Bruce,

Great idea about the photos. Hopefully there will be some spectacular ones ! Had a check through the list again and 'handles' are mostly recognisable but have added a few to clarify! Should be at least one in bold per 'team'
From your group they should be OK....Julian Lyas logs on as Julian.

Here's the list again. If there's anyone there you need to contact and don't recognise please send a pm. Some are from Kim's site www.ribsters.com.

Should be a great opportunity for peeps to meet up then

Regarding MMSI numbers.

Please see John ('on the ball') Kennett's list here .

http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8943

(Worth noting that any additions/ updates to the list need to be pm'ed directly to him . ).

Bar of choccy for anyone who has that very list cut out, laminated (to marine standards () ) and available on their console on the day.

(BTW Andy...a helicopter...that'd be cool )

I too am considering flying round by sea on the Thurs eve / Friday / Sat morn 'coz of rather inconvinent complications with towing/trailer.

If this happens i'll be looking for crew, must have the gear and be able to hold on tight, i won't be hanging about. It's about 150nm.

An amazing response for a bit of pub food and a Solent splash.

Is this the largest assembly of boats we have had?

Well it certainly looks like a nice gathering alright. Great RN spirit of helpfulness too (cheers Daniel and Ian). Daniel please let us know if you decide on a sea route so we can phone you regularly as will happen for Senor Ian Austin.
(Every time we rang him on his last Intrepid Voyage to the Solent he was so chilled he was either munching on a cornish pasty or lighting a fag )
Giles...even if you can't make it this time there will be loads of other spins and if you're in the area anytime give us a shout.

Right. Tim Griffin has sent in tidal info as follows :

"POMPEY HW 1243 4.8 LW 0559 0.4
SOUTHAMPTON HW1203 LW 0551 0.2
LYMINGTON HW 1140 3.2 0539 0.1
low tide is AM going to High it will be a big spring so interesting conditions if the wind is still from the East' "

(Thanks Tim )

Would be immensely grateful for weather info too as soon as someone's got it. Any time we look it up someone organises a rain dance somewhere and it changes 5 mins before we go out

(Don't forget if you're around Saturday Night there will be an invasion of someone's home. BYO rules apply. Please send pm if you are keen )

  • Andy ...Sunday is still the reserve day for the Saturday plan until we are near enough in time to rely on weather reports. However if Sat goes ahead the Sunday will involve another Solent blast and perhaps Cowes this time? Look forward to seeing you.
  • Chris (CJL) is happy to 'go public' with his mobile number and here it is 07968 351721. He will be a point of contact for all West Solenteers Please note : He will be launching from the lifeboat slip at 11.00 a.m.
  • Peeps are thinking about some nice photo opportunities (e.g. Needles/ Hurst as above). Robin also suggested Southsea and he is happy to take some there. All depends on time.
  • (Need to correct typo in earlier post (sorry Kim ) . Willowkis' site is www.ribsters.net of course )
  • A few of us tested the Solent Waters today and despite some rainy, snowy and haily fronts....well it was brill and tcwozere has an amazing new boat altogether
  • Here's hoping for good weather next weekend.
