John,

Sound bunch of people on here! The cruise tomorrow is not really an "event", just a gathering. Anyone is welcome and it sounds like you know what you're doing with your PWC. I guess you're fine with the distance to Yarmouth...I've never been on a PWC so don't know how far you can go!

Get in touch with the Jackeens (read back a bit and get Paul Jackeens Mob number) as they are coordinating the east solent posse (I guess you'll be coming from around there?)

Me and DJL are sorting out the mid solent group who are meeting at calshot at 11:30 tomorrow morning.

Why are you not bringing the RIB?!

Hi Tim - good question, why not the RIB ?
Whilst i am fairly confident using the RIB, i am not the most experienced of user's with it in anything above a force 4. Have NO problems whatsoever with this when it comes to using my ski - nearly 300 hours on it in only 2 years.

Currently here on the Solent (Gosport for me) it is blowing around a force-7 and a current strong wind warning is in force. (sounds like great fun on the ski if i were out today)

Heard a couple of guys who were just outside Portsmouth harbour at 15:00, reporting gusts of 46-48 knots.
I will do my best to write down and recite the 16:40 weather report by Solent CG when it is given out.

The PWC has a 56-litre tank and quite happily circumnavigates the IoW without having to refuel.
The PWC's ability to pick someone up from the water (especially in heavy seas or shallow water) is an excellent safety aspect when it comes to a large amount of vessels within a small vicinity and obviously having an 'IMPELLER' also has a great advantage over the rest of you with the usual prop!

I also use a Gecko marine safety helmet with an incorporated icom M1 VHF and headset boom mic, so will be able to keep in touch and listen out for any mishaps or help that may be required by anyone !

Not trying to take anything over from anyone - but would be very grateful to be a part of this fun weekend, join in the fun and help along the way if it is required ?

John, I'll look forward to meeting you! The in doesn't look too clever at the moment does it. I'm hoping it will die down a bit by tomorrow, we shall see. I guess check the forum nice and early sat morn to get an update.

General Situation:
The UK will remain sandwiched between an area of high pressure in the Atlantic and complex areas of low pressure running down the North Sea over the next couple of days. This situation keeps the UK in a brisk northerly flow with a cold front sweeping south across the country through today introducing much cooler air.

Amplification:
Precipitation on the cold front, which will cross the area this evening, is expected to be light and patchy with some places likely to escape dry. A few wintry showers are possible on Saturday but again accumulations will be small.

Forecast for the rest of Friday:
Dry and mainly cloudy for much of the day. Band of mainly light rain spreading south this evening, clearing around midnight. W 15-18 mph becoming NW 15 mph.

Forecast for Saturday 12/03/05:
Dry and clear with touch of frost developing then mainly dry and sunny with only isolated sleet showers. Dry and clear again overnight with widespread frost. NW 20 mph gusts 30 mph.

Up to 24 powerboats based in the harbour are meeting up for an early season trip across the Solent to herald this special year of maritime celebration.
Craft are due to gather at the lightship in Haslar Marina, Gosport, at 10.30am on Saturday before heading off to join more boats in the Solent.

Hi there ... what's the GO / NO GO decison plan for Saturday. When is decison being made, how will it be communicated etc ... as its an early start for me a post on here would have to be there by 7am Saturday.

If this has been discussed previously sorry for me missing it.

Well it was windy today but it didn't stop a few peeps testing again !

Kim (Willowkis) and Chrisallse, Bogib, Maria and Ingi (Falcon) put Falcon 1 in the water and along with Pacman (Ian Austin & Giles, ) and Zebedee(Paul) they all went for a blast out around the forts, Southsea and Langstone.

We're going for grub in a minute but Paul will have his mobile.

Weather update soon again along with any reminders/ tips that peeps have sent us.

If it's very blowy let's do Cowes as per original plan and Paul, Dan (DJL) , Slimtim and CJL/CND can liaise in the morning
