Internet connection fixed......Yippy!

See you guys at Haslar at about 10:30ish. Olly can't make it as he thought we were going on Sunday One of my mates is going to a toy fair and another of my regulars is looking after his kids whilst his missus is on holiday to Egypt and Sister can't make it back in time.

So knobby no mates tomorrow.

I'm glad fuel's dropped in the last week, if I filled up two weeks ago it would have cost me £20 more

However XD 50's gone up from £28 to £35 Need to find a cheaper supply.

See you all tomorrow.

Engine screwed ( again) so went no-where. Saw 250 launch as I took theplugs out ! One has been x threaded at some point so I have 5 new & one old plugs in it ! Now with RIBs marine for lift/ service & store. Limited by smaller boat to 'local' winter outings - I knew I needed 2 RIBS !

Blackroady: sorry you couldn't make it and sympathies for the engine. Hope its fixed soon and look forward to meeting you.

Otherwise a great day out:

Nos + Doggypaddle: sorry I missed saying goodbye. I thought you were coming to Newtown Creek with the others but appreciate that you had had an earlier start than the rest and hope you had good recovery and trip back. Will see you again I'm sure!

Trip out: glorious - trip back: interesting! Had one wave break over the boat and many hard landings. My knees may never be the same again! Spoilt only by a stroppy National Trust warden who claimed that I'd nearly swamped a dinghy wih my wash. I never saw a dinghy (so perhaps I did !) but none of the others saw it either and I don't think my wash was excessive - the others (who were following) please feel free to comment!

Here's some pictures (if I can figure how to do it!):

Blackroady, I wish you had come over and said hello. I did see you, but as you appeared to be recovering, rather than launching, I did not think it was you! Doh... Sorry to hear of your troubles, the guys at Ribsmarine are good and no doubt will sort for you.

A fab ride over from Christchurch 40kts+, apart from the quick look in to Newtown Creek. Where on the exit we picked up a rope around the prop. A great pub and meal, thanks guys. I am sorry we had to leave early, but both my crew and I had prior engagments later in the afternoon. We too, went via the Needles and the return leg over the rip was entertaining to say the least. Still to get back still dry means you we not trying hard enough.

One more end of season blast anyone ..
Steve

Thanks for a good day out everyone.

I'll put some images up when I've taken them off the camera.

Yes excellent day out thanks folks and I look forward to to meeting the Newtown Creek harbour master again. Their were no dinghies in the harbour and our speed was very slow with little wash. If folk aren't aware the harbour is run by the NT who seem to think they own it. They do charge for mooring to one of there bouys but also try to charge for just anchoring and there right to do so is doubtful.

Pete

Just got in.... Sorry we disappeared but we wanted to get back before the tide was moving any faster. It appears to have been a good decision as at one point I nearly went in stern first off a freak wave and Martyn said he could see the entire of the inside of our boat as we went up it. It was very rough off the Needles and bouncy all the way back.

Good run back though apart from that and nice to see everybody.

And the way back-both captures from a 1 second video clip after which Liz decided that using the camera was second in line to hanging on.

Thanks everyone for a great day out, It was nice to meet up with everyone again and also meet a few people I havent met before.
We had a great run to yarmouth, and as Matt said it was a little bit lumpy on the way back, but not as bad as just off the needles, a fair bit of surf there.
Thanks again Matt And Liz for the help launching and recovering.
I am looking forward to the next cruise already!!

yep, good day out, if a little eventful on the way back, what with ropes round props, niggly fuel problems etc, makes you realise the comfort of being in a group when it starts kicking up a bit like it did on the way back

After a good trip from Pompey to Yarmouth the trip back was a little more eventful as Neil said.

The sea was very confused, the usual Solent 'mess' of closely spaced peaks and troughs moving about in random directions. I got caught out by a trough that appeared out of nowhere as I turned around to see where eveyone was. I entertained everyone with a big 'stuff' that caused the usual wall of water over the bow and left me soaked. This was after telling everyone earlier that I was quite happy in my summer jacket and shorts. It was my first big stuff and surprised me how quick it happened.

I had a fuel starvation problem that caused the Suzi to cut out and my primer bulb to be sucked in completly flat. However it was solved very easily when I moved the 5l bottle of 2-stroke oil that had moved in the bumby conditions and kinked the fuel hose

As already mentioned by Pete7 those of us that ventured into Newtown creek were not made welcome at all by the National Trust 'Police' who said we'd nearly turned over some dinghies that didn't even exist. I'd be interested to hear Avocets comments as the main barrage of abuse was directed at him. As NT members I'll be writing to complain about the harbour patrol officer who was very rude to me, and made up the story about the dinghies.

I won't mention who got his bow line wrapped around his prop

Again thanks for everyones company, it was godd to see the old faces and meet the new ones.

Some pictures

Don't suppose anyone knew who the utter p**ck was in the Hysucat in Nashers 3rd pic in the post above? He thought my grab handles and D-rings were a good place to tie himself and an 8.5m Scorp to. It's not rocket science, surely? He'd taken paint off my A-frame with his 'creative' knotwork too.

Had he been somewhere I could have left him to wait for the next high tide I'd have pulled him up the beach and left him there.
