Congratulations to the intrepid mariners. A daytrip to Cherbourg in mid November is fantastic. Look forward to seeing some video, regards, David and Harry.

Well.............................

we didn't actually make it to France , but we could of!

The second boat that we borrowed was coded and therefore its not insured to operate outside of its coded range and there was no way I was going to go with just one boat.

Had we had the original boat we would have gone no questions asked!

Chris

Surely coding only kicks in if fare paying passengers on-board not private use and the insurance can be extended for foreign use? I am ready to be corrected on this though......

A coded boat is a coded boat, insurance companys love not to have to pay out, If they have a bit of papper that says 20 miles or 3 miles they have a good reason not to pay.

Very annoying that the other boat did not make it. O well we have a good day. Weather was as predicted. Hope that it is a good winter of boating. Far less crouded.

Correct, indeed had to do just this to go to the Channel Islands during the summer. Extra 50 I think. The code or one of the FAQ does cover it,

Peter

interesting about the coding, was not our boat anyway, I would rather not borrow a rib and take it to france. Would not mind in a yacht but not a rib. It is different somhow if it is your boat.

Intrepid Mariners?

The brave souls needed all the safety gear they could buy for the channel crossing.

But it was the best day of the year. Thanks Chris Chris and Dave
