Evening all,

Just a few things;

Dave and Harry are you still planning on joining us?

Either way we will be down at Lymington at 0900 on Saturday and the worst case scenario is we go to somewhere like Poole or Weymouth instead.

I did Portsmouth to Cherbourg with BIBOA in May of 2003 in a 560 Avon with a 100 yamaha f/stroke even flat claim it took three and half hours on the way back and we had to stop mid way to refuel,on the way we hit fog and it added an hour, its a lot to ask at this time of year to do it in a day.
But good luck and a safe journey.

Yeah we will.

Don't forget that if we start at 0900, 3hrs 30mins later we will be in Cherbourg, lunch 1hr thats 1330. Add another 3hrs 30 mins thats 1630. A bit dark but not the end of the world!

Forcasts im looking at are predicting F5's for saturday morning so it could be tough going to do it in the time scale.

On consideration we are not keen to spend such a long time at sea, along with the towing all the way from coventry and back, could work out 16 hours travelling for an hour in cherboug so we'll leave you to it this weekend.

Detailed forcast for Sat

06:00 15knots W, 09:00 10 - 15 knots W, 12:00 10 knots WSW, 15:00 10 knots WSW, 18:00 5 knots WNW, 21:00 10 knots WNW, 00:00 5-10 knots NNW

Surface presure 1013 for the whole day

Wave height 1 - 2 m West decreasing

That gives a force 2-3 W sat am, a force 2 W pm and a force 1-2 NW overnight

We should be running accross the waves in both directions. If the sea state is long there will be no problem.

Congratulations!
Who would have believed it could be so calm after looking at the sea conditions on Friday; looks like you had a good time & booked that window in the weather with the right person.
How long did the crossing take? & how much fuel did you use?
