Sib Club Calshot to The Folly Inn Cowes - 21st July

On the 21st July, weather permitting......

A Cruise from the main slipway at Calshot Activity centre (SO45 1BR) to the Folly Inn in East Cowes https://www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/our...ly-whippingham

This trip will involve crossing the Solent to the Isle of Wight which is about 3.5 nm and a further 1.8 nm up the Medina estuary to arrive at the Folly Inn

Meet up is around 10am at the main slipway next to the RNLI building, leaving Calshot at 11am, I'll have a word with the folly and book a few tables when we know the numbers, we'll order our own food when we get there.

As always ribs are more than welcome

Smaller Sibs who don't fancy the crossing can always meet up at calshot and enjoy the local area, there are toilets and other facilities in the main hanger at Calshot that also houses the Veladrome, Ski Slopes and rock climbing. There's also a bar that serves food (they do a really great Thai Red Curry cooked by the Thai family that run the bar, go for the hot one)

I did this trip today.!!

The Folly is a good pub with nice food, had to pay £6 to moor up, but I don't know whether the sibs could find a way around this?

I would love to get involved with this, however it's my son birthday that day so I don't think I'll be able to make the trip.

It took me around 40mins leaving from Warsash cruising at a steady 15knts. If the weather is right this will be an excellent cruise for the sibs.

Have fun.

Yeah I've done it in my 3.6m Y class and 2 SR4's came round the Island with us but it all depends on the day

There is plenty to do if we don't cross but I'm sure the day will work out just fine as high tide is late morning so there is a large area behind calshot spit where there is a sheltered area and there's also the crossing to the Hamble where there are a few pubs.

There is so much to do there Sib related, but ultimately it would be great to get a few sibs over to Cowes for their fist Island trip

I've missed all the dates that have happened because of work / family life! Do you reckon there could be a similar sib meet up in September? Need to book these things in early!
