It's not the easiest, or most pleasant thing to do! I haven't done this by boat, but remember watching it a few years ago. The Severn is quite a narrow river, and you would be sharing the space behind the bore with several surfers (ie the ones that fall off!) and their safety RIB. The water is very muddy too. It's best watched from a bridge (get there early) or from 20 yards back from the bank (guess what happens to those who stand near the edge )
