I have a couple of simple housekeeping questions:

1. What are people doing in the way of food for Saturday night? I usually just take stuff I can eat cold but if people are taking barbecues then I could bring some sausages etc.

2. As I've got less than an hour's travel to get to Largs, what time are we actually departing on Saturday morning? This is obviously the crucial question as what I'm really asking is how long a lie in can I have?

Im home now and can confirm that I met up with the Guys on the Scottish Sib outing.

We all camped together on Bute … opposite Tighnabruach on the Saturday night. From their report to me of their Saturday ... they went from Largs to Brodick before coming to Tighnabruach.

It must have been a bit of a bouncy trip as I spent Saturday going round Bute with Kaman and had the thrill of following the Last Sea going Paddle Steamer in the world.

The Waverly ..all the way from Rothesay to Tighnabruach in Force 3 to force 4 conditions. I never realised just how fast the old girl moved. I was at full throttle keeping up with her. I guess she was doing around 20 m.p.h. and what a beautiful sight she is when you are up close in a SIB. Her deep V hull had an added advantage over my wooden floor with blow up keel ..but I managed to get some great video footage following her flowing skirt as I bounced along beside her

After a few beers with the guys at night..some of the guys got up early to join myself and Kaman on a trip round the Isle of Arran. We left Tighnabruach around 8.30 am and I arrived back in Largs just after 5.30pm.

We enjoyed a sea as flat as a mill pond almost the whole way. Weather was that good.. most of the guys are extending their outing into Monday by camping tonight on Arran. It was perfect weather...and the midges were well fed

Stevie..I have video footage of my outing..which will cover some of the Scottish SIB outing this year. The guys were taking photos too ..so Im sure you will get a full report from them when they appear. I will post my videos once I get them turned into a watchable movie . Sadly ...you missed a fantastic outing.

Great to meet up with you guys again ... The outing did include a full round of Arran thanks to Highland Haggis for making it happen Im certain the guys will give their update when the get back

Sounds the drank more beer than we did on our party.

I wondered if I was the source of entertainment for the deck passengers as they watched an old aged pensioned being bounced along in their wake. I had one hand on the tiller and the other holding the camera so I was bouncing about a bit. Some stills from my video

The P.S.Waverley

Bouncing along trying to keep up with the old Girl

Coastguard Heli escorting her theough the Kyles of Bute

And a couple of stills of the guys Round Arron trip …

The normally bouncy run down the Sound of Kilbranan

Rounding Pladda on the south of Arran ...on a millpond

My face is the colour of a strawberry ..sunburnt

Looking forward to see some of the actual outing photos from the guys

"Coastguard Heli escorting her theough the Kyles of Bute"

Are you sure none of the Waverley Pax called the coasties to report an old guy washed out to sea in a blow up dinghy!

Yup..I agree it must have been a sight for the passengers on the Waverly booze cruise. I saw them throwing sandwiches to the seagulls following the boat but none thought of throwing a tin of Guinness to the thirsty Gurnard who was flapping along in anticipation.

Another quick update on the SIB outing in case anyone is wondering what has happened as the thread has been very quiet today.

Highland Haggis has just phoned to say everyone has now landed and home safe after another fantastic day on the water.

As far as I can make out ..over the three days.. those that stayed on went round Bute as well as Arran.. landed on Inchmarnock for a look at “The Lady of the Inch” monument .. did a walk tour of the abandoned lighthouses on the Wee Cumbrae Island ..went round the Big Cumbrae and arrived back at Largs this evening.

Camping was on Bute near Tighnabruach and then at Sannox on Arran.

All in ... I guestimate they did around 150 miles over the Sat Sunday and Monday .

Like Stevie Bill ..Im hoping that once everyone settles back home ..they can tell their own stories and include some photos and video.

Well done guys . Perhaps I will join next years outing as it sounds like I missed a great time. I did enjoy meeting everyone

2018 sib trip pics

A few pics from the weekend, thanks to Highland Haggis and everyone who joined us throughout the trip. A very depressing day at work, wishing I was back on the water.
