Was out and about today. It was dead calm between Portavadie and Rothesay. Absolutely beautiful day. Can't predict 100% what it will be by Saturday, but we are worried that there will not even be enough wind for the Round Bute Sailing race, and have an alternate short finish, if this is the case.

Ach..the weathers fine Kaman.. but sorry to hear about your neck..sounds painful.

I had a nice fresh force 4 breeze this morning.. on the 10 mile crossing to Ailsa Craig.

I had to get the Quicksilver de winterized as it was its first outing this year. Bit too rough for the guppy ..but the kayaks made it no problem. ..now you see them..now you dont

Then just like good old Scottish weather..it turned flat calm in the afternoon..and the sun came out.. it was very warm.

Im still looking forward to Saturday..will launch at the public slip .. in the big car park..outside Largs Yacht Haven. Possibly around 8am.

Kaman, sorry to hear it. A night in a tent isn't going to help your injuries even if we could promise glassy calm.

after a grey lumpy morning..it turned out stunning ..The Ailsa Craig is something special..but that for a later adventure. (kayaks are handy for scale of cliff size)

So moral is..you cant really tell..but I suspect rain at times..so bring waterproofs. Guiness keeps you dry too..well I dont notice rain after a few

What are you doing in Girvan had I been at home I would have come down. Use to do the Craig run twice a day with boat load of tourists. I'm to busy up here in Tayvallich what wx. Was at Mccormaig isles today great trip didn't find that shilling you left me!!

I stayed overnight in the Layby just South of Lendalfoot Jambo..it was a lovely sunset. I try to land on Ailsa Craig once a year..its a fascinating Island as you know..lots of interest.

I had a mate in Girvan who used to take folks fishing round the Craig..you probably know him..but he moved to Edinburgh a good few years ago. His boat was “The Ailsa Lady” ..an ex fishing boat which he kept in the harbour..but as mentioned ..a few years ago..He was from the sawmill family down that way. ..keen diver too. I was an Ayrshire man for many years and did a lot of work down Girvan way.

Hey..I left the donation..but I bet the SNP are off with it

The only thing that offers any relief when it kicks off is lying flat on my back on a hard wooden floor so I could cope with a night tenting - might even help.
Got pulled ligaments and trapped nerve - unfortunately even hitting a pothole in the car or sneezing is enough to set it off.
Got physio again tomorrow let's hope they've got a magic wand.
My mate was going to skipper my Sib if it was flat calm but hey ho.

Lady Ailsa use to belong to Ian Girvan when it did the lighthouse run. But I don't know who sold it to. Yes the Craig is interesting rock with many facets. Well I'm back home on Saturday it's been a great week up here. Only hope it's not summer!!!!

The forecast just improved I can live with that! If it does turn out very wet then Gurnard has a plan that keeps us dry (on the outside!)...

That just looks like lots of grey clouds on a roller coaster... It's been raining since I arrived in Scotland at lunchtime today, reminds me of (my ancestral) home ;-) Luckily I just acquired some new shoes that allow water out...

Hello everyone, this is just a quick message to say how amazing the ssg 2016 was.The guys that went are a friendly helpful bunch,nothing was too much trouble,special thanks go out to Poly who became my chauffer after my engine expired.The weekend was great fun and highly recommended to anyone thinking of comming on the next one.I'll try to upload some pics when i figure out how

, Stigomery has an excellent video montage of the trip which hopefully he will share .
