Scottish S*IB Gathering 2015

I've been thinking for a few weeks that a S*IB gathering along the lines of the cruises in company that generally get organised for bigger boats. I'm sure that The Gurnard's latest thread will have whetted a few appetites for what Scotland has to offer. The format I'm thinking of is launch on a Sat mid morning, go somewhere appropriate for ribs in the current weather and then arrive at an overnight stop before reversing the process (possibly via a different route) and recovering mid afternoon on Sunday.

* The definition of SIB here is very broad and essentially is aimed at covering all the smaller, slower boats that won't usually join a RIBnet cruise. And it would be absolutely open to all.

I've spoken to a few people about possible routes etc. But it would be useful to have some idea of possible numbers etc to help crystallise our thoughts or eliminate options.

The aim is to keep this as an informal gathering - so no entry fees, no t-shirts, no charity sponsorship, just turn up go boating with like minded people, go home. And if you don't fancy the route on the day with the forecast weather then no hassles.

If you would be interested in taking part then please reply to this thread deleting options below as appropriate. Its only an expression of interest not a commitment at this stage.

BOAT LENGTH:
ENGINE SIZE:
LAUNCH: TRAILER / TRANSOM WHEELS / CARRY
NO OF PEOPLE:
PREFERRED AREA(S): CLYDE (Largs) / NORTH ARGYLL (Oban) / LOCHABER (Ft William) / SKYE-ULLAPOOL
PREFERRED MONTH(S): MAY / JUNE / SEPT [I've missed the main summer hols intentionally but put them in if you wish]
PREFERRED OVERNIGHT: WILD CAMPING / HOSTEL / B&Bs / HOTEL

Please only reply using the above "options" to make it easier to collate the thoughts. If you want to have a general discussion on SIB locations in Scotland etc then do it here http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/scottis...tml#post651743.

As Mel Gibson said in Mad Max... 'Two days ago I saw a vehicle that could pull that tanker.'

I have a Zodiac MKIIC (1986) that you're more than welcome to borrow if you can uplift from the west coast of Lewis. Repaired the top seam (under the lace cuff) a number of years ago and it's been in retirement ever since. Aluminium floor, great with a 25hp short shaft.

Cool, thanks.

Sounds great - only posisble problem is the two weekend trips to fetch / return it! (small kids - as my "day out" turns into three weekends away......)
