You should be fine, safety in numbers and it looks like there's a good few boats going.

Have you got safety kit, life jackets, VHF etc?

Yes we have, a bit like "All the gear and no idea" probably sums us up at the moment until we get some experience.
We have recently given up the kayaks in favour of the sib, spent a good few years kayak fishing a few different areas so we have lots of waterproof clothing,VHF and license to use handheld GPS and loads of stuff in a big bag we will probably never use

Hopefully it will be calm enough to run atleast part way on the plane which equates to about 15knots, though at just off the plane is around 8-9 knots which is probably about the average?
As someone has mentioned I think? The trip is 9nautical miles so should take no more than an hour?

Is this about right guy's?

Pete.
echo what bingo and lockeiboi say about 9 miles
come on down and nose out of the harbour see what you think, if you don't decide to do it there's plenty to do in the safe waters of Portland harbour.
but as the guys say we will stick together

It's a bit choppy at the moment so probably no point getting in early, hopefully will settle down once the morning breeze subsides!

Me and Sue had a great time Thanks everyone for looking out for us and making sure no one got left behind. Nice to meet new faces.
Everyone was really friendly.

Was nice to get in the shower when we got back to get all the salt off.

Found it a bit choppy in the harbour and for a little way out but it got really pleasant from about half way to Lulworth and same on the way back as well.

Very pleased with our Bombard 380, pretty quick to set up and take down.
Only used around 10lts of 2 stroke so a cheap day out

Won't bother with sandwiches next time after seeing the burgers coming out of the pub kitchen.
Took a few pictures but forgot to take any of our own boat
Will try and add some tomorrow, once downloaded.

Pete.
