Noe that we have finished the season, except for some Charters, we would love to come along with the exception of the 2nd (greenlaning) and the 8th (charter).

Lunch in Ventnor is always good

If it got a rough, we could always put the Searider on the deck

I never bother planning this through in advance, but which way round would it be best to go saturday for the most comfortable run? Assuming I guess an 11 ish departure from Warsash

I forgot the rules

I do know my way around... but I normally just push on through or give up and go home if too bad, planning is totally another thing, but figured DGS might appreciate the easiest route

I'd prefer going clockwise as then we (Blue Ray) can carry on from the Needles down to Weymouth in the afternoon.
Given the start time of late morning, I'm not sure there is an obvious easy or hard way of going round on Saturday.
FYI Slack at St Catherine's is about 13.45 on Saturday.

yep, got the almanac out, and that's the conclusion I came to. Thinking a lunch stop at Ventnor might be in order. Are you also taking the SR?

My almanac agrees with both of you and I would also suggest going clockwise since you'll get the benefit of the East going tide around the top of the island. Although against the tide around the southern part, it will be reducing as you round on Ventnor. On the basis of the forecast south-easterly wind there should be no significant wind-over-tide there. After lunch, you'll have the benefit of the West going tide as you leave Ventnor and will be in the lee of the island from the south-easterly. You will only have to go against the tide on the last leg once you round The Needles and will still be in the lee of the wind.

I'm sorry that I won't be able to join you since I'm heading for Alderney with Crusher on Saturday. I'm planning on going round the island tomorrow with Ian M though: lunch in Ventnor if anyone wants to join us?

David

Yup - lunch at Ventnor is probably OK - should be enough water by the time we get there.
No - we're not taking the SR as well - Weymouth is probably a bit ambitious for a 2nd run out!
Next time maybe though....

Hi zippy, I think I've seen you over in studland bay sometime. Very nice looking boat.

Is this it ?

Hi I'm definitely up for Saturday - who else - Neil Harvey, Trevor G (upto the Needles), 250kts, matt h, Rogue Wave? I'll be coming down the Hamble & so where's the best spot & time to all meet up? Ventnor for lunch sounds great with me. Cheers Dave

Hope to be launching at Warsash slip around 11am on Saturday so might get to see a few of you, though I don't think my Avon Rover 340 would be up to rounding the island even if it was flat calm out there !!!

Hmm - not sure you're being 100% honest there Dave - tough choice - just another round the Island trip or a weekend in Alderney??
Anyway - there may be a few Biboa ribs popping across from Weymouth to join you on Sunday morning for lunch in Alderney - no firm plans until the day, but the forecast is good.

OK, why don't we meet up at Calshot lifeboat or therabouts at 11 sat morning. (I reckon it could be quite busy, and that's a reasonably quiet place to stop)

Plan to go round the island clockwise, lunching at Ventnor.

Who's coming? So far confirmed are:-
DGS - Dave - boat name "Kudos"
Trevor G - boat name "Blueray
Neil Harvey - boat name "Zonneschijn II" (pronounced sonners shayne)

We will be out on the Parker for leisure purposes only and heading over to Yarmouth and then the "wrong" way round and may meet up in Ventnor.
