Seconded.....

Is there any other publication that may be interested? Even the rnli have a quarterly magazine!

Surely the RnlI mag is a good idea. Massive circulation compared to PBR and has members who are up for charitable giving!

Isn't HQ at cowes? Surely someone on here who is a lifeboatman has connections to the publication?

Practical Boat Owner? They tend to be WAFIs but there is some non-WAFI stuff and restoration etc is up there street.

PBO is the biggest circulation marine mag in the UK AFAIK.

To not have put out the article has really really really put me off even liking at the mag again.

Total failing on the mags part to offer something relevant to the 4m rib owners up to the 10m.......in the same article.....buy then no one was paying them......what a bunch of shockingly self serving nobbers....

May be worth contacting Simon Everett who wrote the article. He may know something.

HMS is just a business person and I don't think he has any interest in ribs except for playing or earning his living, can we blame him for that, probably not, I really haven't got any time for him, to me it's a passion and I find his treatment of us ribbers shocking and it's wrong, he's pretty shallow to think that there isn't mileage in this story as it touches the hearts of more than just ribbers and I can't see it would do his circulation any harm either, I for one would buy the mag, first one for over a decade

I contact PBR on 11/12/13 -before latest release asking for the date the article would appear
Part of reply- "Repeated apologies but issue 117 will not contain this feature. We have gone to 156 pages and even then we've had to choose the absolute critical material only. Running the big RI Special meant we didn't have space to run another RIB cruise styled feature. Have it now planned for 118. . HMS"

I believe 117 is now out so lets hope for the next one, may even give you a chance to spin off it for the 2014 IOW charity run

I'll bet with anyone except HMS that it doesn't make the next mag

RIBase
I would really like to do this and list as a possible runner. The date runs through a new event I am supposed to attend - but like all new ventures that could easily stall. So have it in the diary as the preferred alternative.

Are we mixing up two different articles here? Simon Everett wrote a report on Round IoW 2013, and Whisper wrote something for RIB4 Macmillan.

Assuming I'm following correctly of course...

Yep, all this should be in the round IOW 2013 thread really...

The round IOW 2013 was covered by an independent reporter arranged by Ian, I have never seen this article so I have no idea what it says. However, it's the reporters interpretation of the cruise. This is the article that is waiting to be published.

Also another water sports photographer was there (Chris) Which was arranged by PeterM, he donated his time and photos and we sold these for around £20 per set for everything that he took during the day.

The Rib 4 Macmillan article will be written by me and I have been taking loads of photos of the build, also Chris from Henshaw's did too

The Rib 4 Macmillan article will not be published until after the rib is complete, which hopefully will tie in with the sale

Please note I do not have any control over what goes into the mag or when it would be published.

Alex

Could a mod pick up the relevant posts and paste them to 2013?

Is there a way to take the pics we have got, get our pens out to do some words and stick it all in a pdf for circulation to one and all?

Yes I was going to do exactly that

I have spoken to Chris and he is happy for us to use the pics as we wish, his words were "Get them out there"

Edition 118 will be out early March?

I know May 2013 was a long time ago (memories are still fresh though), but on the positive side, publication in March would not be a bad time to raise awareness / stimulate some interest for this year's event (plus ideally a plug for the Macmillan RIB project) if Simon Everett's piece can be updated with these bits of info.

Let's hope that the article will appear in the next edition.
