Round IOW tomorrow

The wall at Yarmouth is fine - was there on Friday and moored up there along with 3-4 other ribs.

Glorious day out today and looks even better for tomorrow.

We expect to be going RTI tomorrow clockwise too. Ourselves plus one other rib aiming to be leaving the Itchin at 10am. Our travelling companions are thinking they may need to fuel at Hamble but maybe ok (at least for Yarmouth). Anyway, v likely to be around Calshot area around 10:15 - 10:30.

We probably wont be able to go for lazy lunch in Yarmouth as have to be back by 2:30ish.

Happy to join for part / all.

We will dual watch on Ch 16/77 Callsign Hudson - I'll give you a hail around Calshot.

You should have headed for Ventnor -

we left Southampton Waters at about 10AM and decided to go around the IOW anti clockwise and having a peep at Freshwater Bay we got to Ventnor at 11:30 . We maintained a cruising speed of 36/38 knots. the conditions were perfect. ideal conditions for crossing the channel if that was the plan. The harbour master at Ventnor helped to moor up and ferried us to the pontoon. (£1.00/ mtr including water taxi) . We got a table on the lower terrace at the Spy Glass pub and enjoyed and hour and a half in the sun. On a day like today the Spyglass pub is the best place to enjoy lunch and the sun. The tides were just about right but we had to leave before 2PM the latest. Having left at 1:30 we headed for coffee to Cowes. Sadly we did not see any of you guys. The whole trip around the IOW lasted just over 4 hours including lunch. total fuel used 90 ltrs - diesel

Shame I didnt know you would be down earlyer mate,did the same last weekend great trip with Chris and Matt h and 240 much impressed with Ventnor alot better food and welcome than Cowes! would have met up,but other plans now.
Sure you will enjoy it though,maybe next time.

Richard, did you change your plans? How was your day? We waited til about 11, as Bedajim was late due to fog on the motorway, but no sign, even tried calling on 16/77 a few times, but figured you changed your plans.

Hi, Yes, did have a change of plan as we got held up (other group didn't make it in the end). Must have just missed you as I think we came tonking down Southampton water at about 11 - not sure why we didn't pick up your call and I figured you must have been long gone to the Lightship by then.

By then we were on a bit of a tight schedule as I had to pick up my son mid afternoon from a scout camp. So we ended up nipping down to Bembridge Ledge for a floating coffee and then round the southside, into near Sandown and Shanklin to have a look at the beaches before skirting round in to St Kats for photos. Across to Freshwater and then we anchored for lunch under the chalk cliffs south side of the needles.

Quite a few ribs doing similar there.

Then it was pretty much straight back after taking lots of photos of cliffs / Needles. Back on the pontoon by 14:30. Great day out but a real shame we missed you all but I suspect our need to get back didn't fit. The only advantage of the enforced early return was that we seemed to miss the inevitable Sunday afternoon traffic on the M3. If it hadn't been for that I think I'd have been very tempted to have nipped over to Old Harry just for the drive and come back late evening.

I kept an eye on the fuel and we used 70l for the round trip being reasonably economic and limiting my son to 30kts.
