Cheers for the info.

So an AVERAGE 1.52 and 1.54 liters per mile, what was your average speed ?

Guess that would be a) difficult to measure accurately and b) misleading if done mathematically due to time sat still at idle and varying weather and location (canal etc)

A more general skipper view of the cruising speed they tried to maintain in open water would be more useful If imagine.

Edit: answered :-(

That's quite fast I'd have thought, say for Gilles in a smaller boat......

Figures can be misleading and for sure very difficult to compare as weather conditions, weigh of rib , HP of engine and persons on board will have an effect as well. When I compare the above figures to those provided by the 999 Challenge team I see that with a much heavier rib, 320 HP diesel engine and 6 persons on board at any one leg and their average fuel consumption was still better.
One must also bear in mind this is diesel engine against petrol engine

That's really apples with pears ..
Even the Watershed was running more economical than the large (petrol) RIBs .
