Email to Harbourmaster - so we don't annoy people/locals

Dear Matthew and team

Over the past 6 months wehave been planning a trip round Anglesey in aid of “Macmillan Cancer Support” organised through a forum on the internet for RIB owners called Ribnet.

See here http://www.rib.net/forum/f18/round-a...4-a-59103.html

We now have over 35 RIBS launching mostly from Caernarfon, that will head through the Menai Strait to Conwy for high tide at mid day. We would be stopping for an hour at most as we aim to have a drink and some fish and chips for lunch before heading on around the Island. Due to the large number of us, and that about 10 of us recently landed last week end and realised they were disturbing normal procedures, I thought it worthwhile to speak with you first as with so many of us we could easily cause further disruption, which is the last thing we want. If you could give me some guidance I can feed this on to those involved. Please let us know where you would prefer us to be for the hour etc. If you can help us and Macmillan I would be very grateful.

Most of the RIBS are just below or just above 6m.

We would like to walk the quay with Macmillan buckets to hopefully collect some funds from the Easter public and will have Macmillan flags etc on some of the boats, so if at least a proportion of us could come alongside to grab their attention that would be brilliant. Macmillan are aware of what we are doing, and it follows up on a round the Isle of White cruise last year where over £8k was raised on the day.

A few boats may want some fuel (nearly all will be petrol), however most will have enough to get around the island anyway.

HP - If you need a list of people who need fuel I am one of them, If I am going round the Island I would like to head off with a full tank.

Really cant wait for this trip now! Counting down the days!

Thanks for all your time putting this together.

Fuel for Conwy

I'd strongly suggest people pre-warn Matthew the harbourmaster if they will be wanting fuel about mid day. It is Easter bank holiday so may be busy, especially at high tide

His number is 01492 596253

Info and maps on Conwy entry http://www.conwy.gov.uk/doc.asp?cat=5342&doc=20669

I'm just going to be full to the brim plus a couple of jerry cans when leaving Beaumaris. 140L in tanks and 50L more in cans.

I have a 150 liter tank, and will be arriving with it full, and then a small poinless spare (5ltr) but if fuel is there I’d rather get some.. I am not 100% sure on my NM per liter as we all know it depends massively on who I am trying to keep up with as to how quickly it will evaporate… This winter I have added NMEA 2000 to the EMM so I should get a better idea of my usage on this trip.

Steve you have more than enough to get round but if you want I can lend you a couple of 20ltr fuel cans to carry as back up, it will save you messing about topping up in Conwy.

Without the run to Conwy -a 6m with 2stroke will use roughly 100L round the island with some waves to get through, rather than flat calm easy running. Most two strokes are about 1.2L per mile broadly in average weather. With the Conwy leg it will be about 100-110 miles so you need 130L. If you take a 20L can or so from Herman with your 150 you'll have plenty even if rough. Too up your tanks from the jerries at Conwy you'll be fine. You're in similar position to me. Conwy could be busy and it's not worth being left as there's a queue. Easter weekend and all that

I could well be wrong here, but I think the harbour master only has diesel, if anyone wants to tip up with petrol there are fuel berths at Conwy & Deganwy marinas which you'll be passing on the way in/out of Conwy
