Round Anglesey May 14/15 - Update

4 WEEKS TO GO!

Thanks everyone to the reply to the PM's etc. Attached is a photo of an updated list of who is coming to the event including evening meal. If something is wrong with the details then please let me know.

Alex has raised a justgiving webpage with £1000 target. The link is below

https://www.justgiving.com/roundanglesey

Currently working on macmillan T shirts available on the day £10, polo shirts for pre-order £20 and pre-order flags £15 (to be confirmed) The flag can also be made available for the Round Isle of Wight in July as it only refers to the macmillan rib run.

hi Nick & Helen, we definitely won't make the run this year, I'm going in this week, might be there on the day, but just to wave you off, I'll make a donation via the just giving link

The Menai - April

Had a run out today - first of the season. Not many out except the rib rides cold but a lovely day. Hope it warms up for May. The seal seamed to be enjoying the Sun!

I thought that, they're rarely there, normally on the tail end of the island.

Hi guys

I am hoping to join you in Tigga for this run - couple of quick questions

How much fuel for this SR4 with a 50hp mariner four stroke (approx)
How long does the run take
Which way around donee go?

Many thanks

Julian

Think they're going clockwise this yr and it's roughly 80miles.

A 4stroke on an SR4 will use less than a litre a mile I'd suspect, even in bad weather. Bu if you took 80litres if have thought you'd be fine.

PM Chris Caton as he'll know more on your consumption.

hi Julian,
don't forget the newness hasn't worn off the mariner yet, but I'm sure this run will sort that out

80litres HP, this ain't no fat ol Humber mate, it's a racing snake SR4, 40litres will do the job, but as its a new motor maybe a drop more just in case
still not managed to empty my 90litre tank, must try harder this year

Bloody hell, we use about 120litres in rough weather, 4 up and full of fuel.

We take 140L in the internals and two 25l drums just in case ;-)

You never know, going clockwise say, you may do 3/4 of the circuit, hit atrocious weather on the East side by Moelfre/Middle Mouse and have to come back round! You could have done 120-130miles by then if you started at Beaumaris.

my last blast round the island in the SR4 I set off with about 80litres in the tank, didn't plan on going right round to start with, the just developed still had plenty of fuel left when I got back to Caernarfon, next trip out I struggled to get 40litres into a 90litre tank

I will be carrying 150l in my tank and 40l spare - and I estimate to use about 100l

like HP says, it's around 85 miles round the island, give or take a bridge or 2, so unless you know different best to be thinking around 1litre@mile + a bit of reserve 👍 I'm sure if your struggling for space on a small rib one of the bigger ribs will help you out with carry spare fuel, just ask!
but if the weathers crap it's got to be your decision what to do, don't forget the bigger ribs will be faster in rough weather, the smaller ribs may well be more than capable of handling the rough stuff, but will your back hold out 😂
luckily for me the decision is out of my hands this year, not for the first time I'm going to be grounded, yet another petty excuse 🙄
