There's a great slip at Windsor Leisure Centre with parking facilities.

Ummm... just read the first few pages of this thread - are you guys talking about boating on the non-tidal part??? Seriously, in a RIB? Hire a hardboat for the day or something

Rene, i'll happily show you the tidal part, through the thames barrier, past the houses of parliment, tower bridge etc. but i have little interest in taking my RIB upstream of Tedington (plus you need to buy a licence). The speed limit starts at Wandsworth Bridge, a few miles further upstream you get to Teddington where you need a licence... and a passport - seriously this is the first 'port' so if you have come accross the channel you don't need your pasport untill this point.

As someone who started this thread, I was only talking about the Tidal part of the Thames..
Going along the non-tidal part of the Thames in a Rib is about as interesting as a Vicar going to Soho.
I do put my Rib in at the Windsor Slip to test my boat but driving for an extended time at 4 knots does strike me as boring in the extreme...
Once I've sorted out not getting electrocuted on my boat I'll be going along the Tidal Thames (if anyone whats to come, your welcome)

Pete

As you live west London and the non tidal is so boring why do you drive all the way to Windsor to test your boat at 4 knots?

Thats easy!

The slip is good, the parking is good, it takes 25 minutes to get there, the tidal state is irrelevent & the river conditions are stable. Ideal testing purposes for electrics & puncture repairs.
Will be there on Friday.

not yet - the Scuba diving & bedroom decorating are getting in the way!

Friday is the first day I'll have to take a good look at it but will strip the wiring apart tomorrow evening looking for anything obvious...
