Plymouth

Plymouth would be a superb venue!

Alan

I am currently at the uni so that makes 5 of us past or present.

Never met Mr Redfern but have read many of his texts on seaspeak which the International Maritime Agency decided not to adopt.

Charles

I would recommend a meal at the ship inn at noss mayo about 20 minutes from any of the marinas in plymouth (by boat)

A beautiful location.

Cheers
Karl

Plymouth Poly was very popular.
I did a BSc (Hons) in Transport and Economic and an MSc in Shipping Management Finance.
I had lectures such as Richard Gray, Geoff Pope, Sid Harley, Craig Rich, Brian Yolland (is dead now I think), Dr Morby, and someone lecturing Operational Research called Danwoody.
It was great when I was there. I'm 45 years old now (going down hill FAAAAAAst- speed was always my wekaness LOLOL).
Well I hope we can meet up in Plymouth it will be great!!

Cheers

Ah a few years before my time then!

Also had Richard Gray, Syd Harley and Craig Rich as previously discussed.

Sounds as though the RIB.NET gathering will also be a Plymouth Poly/UoP gathering through the ages! Can't wait!

Charles, got the BIBOA calendar yesterday and there's a lot of cruising events planned by the looks of it. Given that Brian's West Country drenching is scheduled for 24 to 26 May and there is nothing on in early April that I am aware of, may I suggest the weekend of 5/6 April? The 12th/13th would also be OK but the following weekend is Easter and there's a Solent gathering then.

The middle of the year looks pretty chocker - including your own as yet undated do in July. So earlier the better in my books.

Hi Chaps

How about sometime in March, or is it still too cold for you Southern Solentites?

Keith (colder, wetter, the better) Hart

PS: Don't forget to register for the 'Great Orkney SIB Expedition 2003'

Hmmm. Up to a point, Keith. But the Spring Equinox always brings a high incidence of gale force winds and heaped up seas and this does tend to spoil the outdoor bit just a little sometimes.

The worst should be over by Mothering Sunday weekend of 29/30 March. But that event may split the turnout and it could lead to a few nasty matrimonials for those for whom the do comes first....

See RIBEX 2003 thread. How about the meeting there as suggested?
