i agree with the comments below, it is not a conference and to call it as such is very confusing and gives the wrong impression of the event.
to me it is an event where folks get together and go on trips and eat and drink and socialise and calling it a conference probably puts folks off taking the lead to organise it.
i dont think one venue will suit everyone so why dont folks in the key areas just set some dates and start organising an event just like the local cruises get organised and then folks can put their names to the venues that suit them.
some folks will be lucky enough to attend all of the events and others will get to attend one or so, personally i would love to visit as many as i can and commitments allow.
it would be easier if folks set expectations in advance of what exactly might be set up for the event, ie some may arrange a beer tent and all sorts of things whereas others may just arrange a series of cruises over a few days and will put people in touch with local lodgings etc and arrange pubs where food can be sought etc
just some ideas to maybe help move this along a bit
