We have a place near us called the broad water it's always full of weekend motorhomes cluttering up the place I've suggested to the local authority that it would be a good place to put up a parking metre not that I'm against them but it would help towards to cost of maintaining the area why should these people park for free when some (not all) leave a mess that has to be cleaned up. And if they are caught not paying clamp them

I'm sure the local businesses would enjoy the loss of money too!!

Any responsible person won't mind paying and don't leave a mess.
If they do I agree. They should face the consequences.

Just because there are frequent or lots of motorhomes is not a reason in itself to over react to things, however obviously I have not been to broad water so only talking generally

Tony, I have been motorhoming for many years, I have never seen an owner of a motor home leave rubbish behind when they leave, however I have seen plenty of car drivers dumping rubbish out of there windows.

Steve

Yes well I see it a lot there and to be honest id say most of these people tend to bring most of there supplies with them and do not support the local community due to the cost of petrol food etc in rural areas being considerably higher then inner city's. That's just my 2 penny worth
Happy motoring

I had my first motorhome in the 1980's.
I have never left rubbish and only seen rubbish left once, which I picked up and put in the bin myself!

Thanks for the input.
I personally make sure I buy something locally, even if it's just milk and a paper.
We go to these places because they and the people who live in them are great and I want it to stay that way!

Used to get motor homes staying in the car park at Christchurch.(about 70 yards from my old house) .

There were the normal guys, clean, respectful etc and never a problem at all, happily doing some boating, making a nice cuppa mid afternoon etc.

The other type trashed everything, left a total mess, were abusive, washed their kids in the kids water park etc etc....total nobs.

Like boaters and jetskiers and sailers and rowers and drivers and cyclists ........not everyone is the same..

It is a popular fishing area with a super reef for bass fishing and most of these motor homes do tend to be fishermen who cook their catch on the roadside sometimes while enjoying a boozy weekend I'm not painting you all with the same brush but some do tend to leave a little mess that had to be cleaned up by someone

Agreed peter.
Infact there is one with a jet ski who stays on mudeford quay regularly.
I won't even park next to him! :-(

Christchurch is great because there are 5 spots within a mile or so of mudeford that I have been stopping in without issue or problem for getting on for 20 years!
Infact the police drive round all of them at night and stop and chat if I'm outside or just drive past if I'm in bed!

Your general view in your last few posts have been very general and anti motorhome, would love to see any pictures of the area you say is being degraded by the leaving of rubbish.

How many motorhomes proportionally are there compared to cars ? 1 - 5, 1 - 10, 1 - 20.

usually a very low percentage of motorhomes to cars, probability is that the car drivers are leaving the rubbish.

Steve

To be fair, if you have never had a motorhome, you don't realise the freedom and lifestyle it gives you.
So obviously non motorhomers won't be as keen.
