It's been mid 20's and not a breath of wind for the last 3 days, today the temps halved, just started raining and it's blowing F4.

Bank holiday's arrived then...

Twas almost a millpond out there. Excellent conditions, if not a little bit chilly when the clouds came over. This epic voyage has well and truly commenced

Well, Martini is either out of range or sunk. They are nowhere to be found on marine traffic.

Or he's just gone "covert"... ...but I'm sure WilkDAR will locate him in due course!

One of the crew had a ferry to catch, I am guessing they thought that there might not be time for lunch in Honfleur before having to be back in LH.

I really should get some work done, rather than sulking about not being with the jammy beggers.

Critical Legs

Well, the first 2 legs to Alderney & Le Havre / Honfleur were always the critical part for a weather window and not a wasted day or two. Now they are there they should be able to travel on the river regardless of the weather with hopefully little or no rain in the next 10 days.

Like both Martin & GJ0?? (Paul) absolutely gutted I could not go, will definitely be a trip of a lifetime.

Can't wait for some photos of Martini in the middle of Paris, the French will not have a clue what is going on !!!!

I think if they are successful and I am sure the guys & girls will share all the info gained, this will open up a whole new adventure for many small and open boats in the next few years.

Yes, it could blow a hurricane and they'd be ok. The only problem from now on will be availability of accommodation as Matt mentioned they hadn't booked any! I'm definitely up for this trip next year when I have some more dosh. We'll have to grill them for information when they return.

From martini.je...

Day 3:
Honfleur - Rouen. (PK355-PK245) 110km
Leaving Honfleur at local LW+2 to take advantage of the rolling HW this leg should take around 5-6hrs. This tidal section of the river (Seine Maritime) can be very busy with large commercial shipping and traffic is strictly regulated. The 28 km/hr speed limit reduces to 14 km/hr at Bouille (PK260) until we pass under the impressive ‘Jean d’Arc’ Bridge at PK242. Just prior to the bridge at PK245 is a new (2008) marina built in the old commercial port of Bassin St. Gervais where we will be stopping for the night.

LW Honfleur today is 1100 BST, so the guys and girl have an easy morning (perhaps a bit of a trek to get back to the marina) before their 70nm cruise up river.
