They seem to be sticking with their forecast still. 10kts SE on Friday and then 5 kts NE on Saturday. if it stays like that we should have a great trip to Le Havre. Don't forget the suncream

Thanks, I will put you down as a shorebased contact on my CG66. In case of emergency I'm sure the Willk database will have the answers to any questions the authorities might have .

Thanks, very much looking forward to it, fingers crossed most things go to plan. I'll have my AIS transmitter on to help you "think about" us although there's no receivers after Le Havre.

I'm taking the laptop so I'll do my best to keep everyone updated with pics etc.

Crikey have you tapped into the National Police CCTV network there?!

They should employ you as technical advisor on the next Bourne movie...

We'll have to chuck some of those transmitter blockers in the 'poubelles' as we go up the Seine a la Benny Hill in 'The Italian Job'. Should keep the spying eye of willk off us

.... and I thought I'd be able to get away without my make-up!

We'll have to remember to wave at the cameras as we pass.

Good luck to all of those taking part and hoping everything goes safely.

I would have loved to have come along and offered a few seats, but coding only allows for up to 20miles from a safe haven. Maybe next year as a leisure trip then ...

Steve

If all goes to plan this year it would be a nice thought that it might inspire others to give it a go next year

At least we'll have some better, up to date info on fuel etc by then.

Hmmm... well it truly is tropical weather! Went for a hair cut at 4:30 (ahhh my beautiful locks!!), and it was absolutely baking. T shirt and sunnies. Came out half hour later (weighing considerably less [crying emoticon]) and it was still warm but the clear blue had gone greyish. Went for a walk round the coast (yummy ice cream ) and then it burst out raining. Heavy storm, absolutely pelting it down. Big drops, very wet rain if you know what I mean. Ducked under cover for 5 mins and it went away to be replaced by the same clear blue and right now it is absolutely gorgeous out and still really hot (getting dark now though). Moral of the story: don't count your chickens and omit your wet weather gear! For Keith, that means buy some!

Haven't I told you before not to be cheeky to those wiser and older than you. Think you could do with a bit of National Service to knock some sense into you.

Latest weather...

There are three low pressures to the south and the west, all are disappearing and behind them lurks that very very large high.

Avocet, wind mid channel is currently 14kn and air temp 12º. 10kn here and 9kn at St Catherine's Point. Dew point in the channel is close to the dry, so you might have some mist patches, but it is clear here at the moment. It should be a good crossing, see you later this morning (ish).
