RIB cruise from Hong Kong to Manila
Hi there.
I have together with a friend planned this trip for nearly a year.
We leave HK in may and will cross the south chinese sea in one go.650nm.
We have made all the prep. we could come up with.
Boat. BRIG 780 with SAT phone, radar, ais, vhf, chartplotter, safety suits, ATL fuel tank, (600l extra 940l in total) extra prop, tools, emergency outboard.
We will leave early in the morning and we have estimated to use 30 hours.
If someone have a "reminder list" or constructive comments, we would highly appreciate some input.

Big trip - exciting waters!
What is your fuel plan? 1.44L/Nm @ 22kts x 30 hours is how I read it? You'll have tested the weights in the boat over a distance in varying sea conditions so I guess you're happy. Personally I think the fuel figures are a little close to the limits for my own comfort.

Hi Willk
A similar boat, with the same Yamaha F300 use aprox. 22 l/h at 22 knots.
I believe that with 650nm we shuld be covered.
But if anyone have experience and comments about this point, please give me feedback on this point.

We crossed the south China see in 33 hours in a BRIG 780
Hi all
We have now completed the trip from Hong Kong to Mindoro on the Philippines.
We left Hong Kong early in the morning, Wednesday, May 11.
We have commissioned the boat Monday and Tuesday where we bunker 1150L of fuel.
350L in the main tank,
600L in a ATL bladder tank
and 200L in 10, 20L fuel canisters.
When we left Hong Kong, the weather was fine, but leftovers from a "old storm" somewhere left us with relatively high waves.
After 12 hours we got better conditions, and even we got some tropical "showers" during the night, the ride was fantastic.
The sunrise was spectacular, and we where running 24 to 28 knots all day, and we arrived at the destination at 4 PM, Thursday May 12.
We used approx. 1000L for the voyage, that we logged to 674 nm.
Approx. 0,7 nm pr. liter of fuel.
We was on the way for 33 hours.

Well done for a very impressive trip. Like Andre says, we'd all love to see some photos if you managed to get any.

holy moley 1000 litres of fuel how did you sneak that one past the wife fuel must be cheap in hong kong thats making me cringe just thinking about it thats a fairly epic trip
