I certainly don’t envy you on that exposed crossing on Saturday Willk
although I always enjoy a visit to a distillery

Saturday was a funny day for me too.. it started off flat calm at Oban.. then the winds and seas picked up around lunch time.. it got a little rough in the middle of the Firth of Lorne F4 - F5 and I was in a convoy of SIBs

No distillery visit at the end..but I managed a can or two of the black chop ..to get rid of the sea sickness feeling and steady my hands again .

I'm unsure which part of your post confuses me the most I fear that you must have Mixed your Macs? This Mac drives in Forward gear, which isn't very Mayo School In any case, I wasn't surprised - I just said he stuck it rightly. My driving is somewhat erratic and conditions were so-so. He did his leg in recently so I was delighted that he prevailed with his usual fortitude and good humour.

Wilk

Going Backwards method is used as a form of thrill seeking in Mayo when on RIBS. Matt H wave jumps I go backward in rough seas

There's some serious "DOSH" in those pictures willk obviously the Ardbeg jaunt isn't for the mere PLEBS of RIBnet society although I think that I did spot one cabinless rib which was probably used for the butler to serve the large drams to the Elite class so to speak

I must admit I do love cabin ribs though

That'll be laptops, fancy plotters and any other gizmos which may let on as to where the SW Beamer pirates have been raping the seabed. All go glug when the FP boys rock up.

Maybe so. The RIB itself has three PC monitors onboard, so must be running some serious countermeasures themselves!

AIS is the giveaway these days. It makes monitoring restricted areas pretty straight forward, 4knts in a straight line and bingo! Two of those PCs will be for Facebook.

AIS? You must be sh1tting me! No-one runs AIS! I pass multiple fishing boats and patrol boats when I make a decent passage, and devil the one of them shows up on my AIS. Just the feckin English yachts callin' the fathoms as they progress....

Illegal Cardigan Bay scallop dredgers face fine of up to £1m in biggest case ever brought by Welsh Government (From Western Telegraph)

No hiding from VMS. These guys are VERY local to me. They'd been monitored for weeks prior to being pinged.

Excellent. I should have said that I have less than no sympathy for them. I got a walk around one of the Protection Vessels a while back and she had a switch for "Trawl Lights". I was very impressed

Not in our side of the sound. If Dan were there he would have managed a few.

Well of course, it was a N wind! The sea calmed a lot when we were about 5 Nm south of Islay (getting some shelter) and we made Ardbeg with a final approach speed of 40kts. Not sure donegaldan would have managed a lot of footage. That said, he did very well yesterday - spent 90 minutes outside in the Antarctic winter and got some deadly footage:
