Hi there, I was out on my boat (Seamate) with al40 and his boat Phria which is pictured. We heard the call on the VHF and raced over to find the boat sinking and 3 adults still in the water. The Diligence had picked up Muriel and the kids and I picked up the remaining 3 adults then transferred them over to the Diligence. The Police arrived about 5 mins later in a launch then MOD Police from Faslane in a RIB (Arctic 24 with twin 200 Mariners - nice!) They were very lucky that they were all wearing life jackets and that there were so many other boats around. Despite this excitement it was a great day and it was amazing to see the QE2 and so many other boats out.

Kev - she must have sunk fast - do they know if she hit something or was it seacock type failure?

They said they heard a bang and thought they had hit something in the water. It went down in less than a minute, it was all very quick. I've just had a look at Inverclyde Now website and it shows a picture of the boat being towed away, so I'm sure they'll find out the cause.

Great weekend...

What a great end to a great if wet and tyring weekend.

Highlights of our weekend

Sat A.M - dry suit or waterproofs? - great crossing over to Rothsay from largs then up to Portavadie.

Sat P.M. Night navigation - sleat snow shower at stupid o'clock in the morning - Baltic

Sunday - is it summer time ?? what a change in the weather - nice trip back down to Largs a bite to eat at Dunoon then anchor off for the Main event...

Waow!! - never seen the QEII before but Waow! She is a great piece of Scottish shipbuilding ... Well done John Brown's and staff!!

Great turnout for the evening send off

To However organised and paid for the firework display, well done and thank you !!

To the Person that made the call On ch16 to the QEII as we set sail, the words were fitting and needed nothing more said.

I'm to young to remeber her launch and what that meant to people but i'm very sure that there were a few tears shed last night.......

A couple of pics ... video to come

Bon Voyage!.....

Yes that's my RIB...

Couple more links:

http://www.inverclydenow.com/news-detail2.asp?ID=2101 (Shows boat being towed away as Kev mentioned)

http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scot...cle1770866.ece (if you click into the slideshow thing, 2nd pic is of my boat).

As Kev has already said, we heard the shout and WOT'd it towards the casualty. Seamate is good bit faster than me and got there 1st and got the remaining guys out of the water and we picked up the floating debris and handed it over to the guys in Dilligence. At request of the faslane police, we then hacked off a floating line which would have been below the surface if the boat did sink (in case it went round anyones prop).

Really incredible how fast it sank... We hear the Dilligence radio in, turned round and the boat rolled and then went into the posn shown in the pictures.

Running alongside the QE2 was absolutely awesome. HUGE in a word - something I will never forget. We were sitting off her midships when a sea-king helicompter started doing "laps" of the QE2 flying directly overhead (pics to follow). The water was literally teaming with other boats, what an experience and what a beautiful day for it all.

Nice Pics 9D280 like the close up of the RIB beside the Big girl !!.. Seing the Saturn there reminds me of a story coming across the firth where I had a jeep and trailer with a mini digger on it, on board. The sea was so rough she kept taking massive waves on the starboard bow, covering the whole boat with spray, I thought my digger was going to go over on its side we had all been detailed to stay inside, in the end she couldnt make port against the sea and had to run to Gourock instead .. turning off course was the bit I was not looking forward to in mid channel, but the skip managed it no bother, he must have picked his moment as I have never seen the Clyde as rough as that , but the funny thing was, running before the wind past the Cloch, her entire cargo deck ripples like a mexican wave

Amazing to think that although she's older than many of us on here, she's still faster than a lot of the RIBs we own

Must be quite a sight to see her cruise past at full chat
