Portsmouth to Portland Bill

As the weather was so good this weekend, myself and Ricky (Thorper) set off on a Portsmouth to Portland to Portsmouth cruise.

Fantastic weather, conditions great, good bacon butty at Swanage, Durdle door looked like the med! All in all a top trip!

Maybe next time we can get a few more boats to join us.

Also took a pic of the new tower in Portsmouth, see attached. There is also a Web Cam.

Portland Trip

Hi Andy,

looks like you had great weather?

just a couple of question what was total distance travelled? Not sure if Southcoast Two has the capacity. Would need to calculate how much extra fuel to carry.

Any difficulties with the Portland Race?

Allowing for stops ect. how long to do round trip? What was average speed?

I would like to undertake a trip like this in the future. Any plans to be out over Easter?

regards

We used 130 litres of fuel (£102) and our crusing speed was 30-35mph. The trip took 2 hrs each way. We stopped off in Swanage for a bacon bap on the way and at Durdle door and Lulworth cove on the way back just to take a look.

Its about 60-65miles each way depending on how direct the route is .. rough chart work puts it at 55nm each way.

We had no problems with sea conditions, it was a great day and sea state was slight.

Will do something over Easter, not sure what as yet, lets see what the weather forcast is nearer the time.
