Plymouth to Looe Pasty Run - 2016

Folks

With the weather so grim I've been looking at tides and trying to predict when the sun will be out for what is fast becoming the best South West Event in the diary - the Plymouth To Looe Pasty Run.

The date that seems to fit both tide and weather is Saturday the 14th May.

High tide seems to be showing as 1215 Devonport, (2016 Tide Table for Plymouth (Devonport), England for fishing <º(((><) so thinking that a 1130 jump off from the breakwater fort, Plymouth Sound for the 14nm (approx) trip over to Looe will be in order.

A 1130 start time will get us to Looe 1215 ish which is bang on high water, which leaves loads of time to eat a pasty, grab a tea from Black dog (if he's open) and toddle back for a dropping tide recovery - perfect.

As you all know my tide planning hasn't always been the best but after checking with others I'm pretty sure the times are right for this year

If my times are off (again) please do shout.

Hi Andy,
We should be there-will stick it in the diary
I trust the sea will be somewhat flatter this year.
Looking forward to seeing your new boat on the water.
Cheers,
Bob

"Aquahound" won't be joining the trip this year after all - she's sold at last ( -worth waiting for the right buyer!

Don't think we'll have her sucessor in time for May.

Kind of apt as it was last year's challenging conditions on this run that made us decide we wanted something that bit more comfortable 4-up in a sea.

I's still like to play this year, so would love to crew for someone - fuel contribution obviously.

Now all I need is a RC585 to my spec

Hi Bob,

You are more than welcome to join me. I have a slightly larger boat for this years trip and will be on my own. You could probably teach me a thing or two!

Anyway, the offer is there.

Paul

Hi Paul,

I didn't take you long to trade up!

Many thanks for the offer - very kind & sounds great- I'll drop you a pm.

Not sure I'll teach you much that's positive

Now Aquahound's finally departed today to her new home with the ASA it feels strange to be facing a season without a boat Time to dust of my wishlist for a 585 and buy a few lottery tickets

Bob

3rd time lucky for a pasty then

What's the ASA doing with her? Swimming safety craft?

Hi Andy,

Yes I must get that pasty this year

She's going to be used for powerboat training - which is why they wanted a side by side configuration, and safety boat work.

Andy,
Wrong ASA I think - in my world it's the Army Sailing Association - were you thinking of the swimming bods?

With a week to go the pasty run is looking like it'll need ice creams on the way home too.

Priorities young Treerat.....have you liaised with the local pasty miners to ensure they will be adequate supply when we reach Looe?...I'm less worried by the the availability of good quality Devon ice-cream on return to Plymouth
