No land support.
Not necessary but certainly desirable.

First of all I would like to thank Brian for all his help and input which has been greatly appreciated,
We have now finished a few mods to the boat including fitting four shock migration seats,a flowscan fuel metering system and a new radar ,
We have set the date for the first good window after the last week in May,our route starts from Holyhead marina then to Tobermory, Ullapool, Stromness, Peterhead, Whitby, Ramsgate, Weymouth, Falmouth then the last leg back to Holyhead marina ,if anybody has local info of any hotels or guesthouses or any recommendations or information on any of the harbors it would be appreciated ,
Our chosen charity is Gafael Llaw which is a north wales charity which helps children with cancer and their family's ,
All the costs of the trip are being funded by the crew with all the fuel being provided by Ventilair uk ltd ,
We have started a face book page, Myles Aweigh Charity Challenge ,for any updates and photos for any interest parties wishing to follow and have started a Just giving page for anybody wishing to donate anything, any amount no matter the size would be greatly appreciated and all will go to the charity https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/myles-aweigh

Sounds a great trip and would enjoy doing similar one day at a reduced pace!
Having a owned a KAD44 cousin of KAD33 in a Humber 8.5 for several years I got quite good at changing belts and idler pulleys and have done so at sea too.
May I suggest new belts and idler pulley plus spares prior to leaving.it might be worth doing it yourself too to see how to do it .
If the compressor belt goes you are at displacement speed as it is impossible to get revs high enough to get the turbo working.
Good luck and keep us informed of progress we might join you along the south coast.

I’m the new owner and haven’t gone too far yet just a few trips round IOW , I did manage 1000 Miles in my first year ,Mike Watershed on here was the previous owner and can fill you in on details.
I keep trying to get back up to Scotland for some trips but works seems to get in the way .

Give me an update on when you pass the Farnes, at worst I could manage a RAS to stock you up with some warm or cold comestibles!

I have done a few long distance rib trips including a circumnavigation of Ireland England Scotland & Wales If you will take my advice go for 100 -150 mile legs take a lunch stop, enjoy the scenery.give Cape Wrath a great deal of respect .It is very easy to fall into a kind of torpor when you get fatigued and you tend to press on on auto-pilot that is when mistakes happen.take easy snacks, chocolate
Biscuits etc and drink plenty of fluid. The longest leg we have done is 250 miles round the top of Scotland but that was in ideal conditions with 6 ribs.
Enjoy.

Loved reading this thread so far!
Very interested in seeing how you get on, I can recommend a stop in Exmouth, there’s a sheltered Marina and B&Bs everywhere, there’s easy fuel access and 2/3 marine engineers on had within 5mins of the Marina.
I’d love to pop out and cruise with you when your passing if your not staying too!

Absolutely brilliant progress so far.
