Piel Island 5th Jan 2014

Tides are good for the Sunday, anyone fancy a trip across to Piel Island from Knott End Fleetwood, maybe via the windfarm?

Its approx 20-30 min crossing. There is a pub and food.

Plan is to meet at knott end for around 11 ish if the wind and weather is ok. There is a large free car park. The slip can be a difficult launch, but if there are enough bodies that's manageable. Launched for around 12 latest, across to Piel. bit of food and warm up, then back to knott end for around 3.00 before we lose the light.

High tide is 13.50 and is 10m low tide 8.15 and 20.45 1m. Lot of water movement here but if there is low wind its fine

Merry Xmas

you thinking of BFYC Mike?
Might look in if I'm back at home which is the current plan...but with that size of tide the jetty at the Ship at Piel may well be unusable - so it may be a Butties and Flask day!
Having said that for the team described as a mixture of scrapheap challenge meets Bear Thingy a dodgy jetty presents absolutely no challenge!

No jetty no problem , we can tie to the buoys and use mine to get to the beach. Aluminium hull pretty much means drive in as long as the prop doesn't get a dink. Tides coming out at two so with an anchor and a long line all will be well

That Piel Island is elusive Mate, tried for two years to do a camping trip on there but was always let down by the weather.

I would love to come with you Neil but I am working that weekend.

Looks like Sunday is a no go Neil, big winds & big tides don't mix in Morecambe
Bay. Think we will go to the pub!

I'm with you there still a lot can change in a day and it is next year. When you think of it like that who trusts a forecast

Pub is a definite back up plan
