Ok! i've spoke to kilmartin cottages & caravans today they have only 2 cottages & 2 caravans you can only book these next year at the start of season most of the campsites up there only take up to 4 man tents so for those who fancy Mallaig or Arisaig next year may struggle to book anywhere so option 2 for accommodation could be Oban caravan park again as we already know is a great site & easy boat launch & trailer storage at puffin divers, then up towards skye & do a few of the islands & coast line up there, any thoughts on option 2 for those who want to do the trip probably head up there again at spring bank cos we did get some great weather

Obviously!!..Not Hailing from Yorkshire myself ....Two weeks under Canvas then doesn't realy appeal..
Oban again wouldn't be too much of a Chore!! Andy
It would Be nice if we could maybe get All the Lodges in the Row if we do decide to re-visit!
We always have the option do some exploring/rough camping further afield.. even if it meant trailing the Boats somewhere for an Hour or two...?

We're more than happy to do Oban again, it's a place we like & makes a good base for exploring further afield. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff we didn't see this year, including that fkin big rock We'd probably be tempted with a lodge next year, they looked good value if 4 were sharing, a bit easier for entertaining too

Im sure if the verdict is you end up back in Oban again there is still much new ground to see such as Jura Islay and Colonsay as well as small Isles if weather around Ardnamurchan permits a passage further north for a long day trip .

You could always do Mallaig/Arisaig by steam train as a trip off the water from Fort William.

The only way we could have a longer stay is to go at Easter, which is about a month earlier than spring bank next year. Weather could be dodgy & I don't know if I could survive a fortnight of 80+ miles/day, I know the dog couldn't.

I thought spring bank was the right time for the weather it was still cold out on the water even at sping bank, if we went easter time days would be shorter & alot colder, up to now we can only do 7days again this time cos we want to do a week down the south coast & try to get over to the Isles of scilly for a few days & if the penny can stretch i also need a new roof on the house

Right then, "Oban Spring Bank 2014" it is. Let's get it booked & a thread started.
